I received sunday afternoon the permission for take different pictures in this old Great seminary to Bruges. I want say thank to the direction, and the people that my assist assisted indoors the building
You can see, one of the wonderful corridors with black and white floor, this gives a excellent perspective.
Source: Inheritance Bruges.
The origin of this monastery is a religious community in the early 12th century came in the inhospitable dunes of Flanders, near present-Koksijde. In 1138 led the first abbot, Fulk, this community within the Cistercian Order. Ten Duinen developed into by far the most important Cistercian abbey in Flanders and the Netherlands.
Two serious crisis moments were decisive in the further history of this institution. In the second half of the 16th century abbey and shared community in the total desperation caused by the revolt, particularly the violent religious wars. From then began a slow recovery in 1584, initially in the outer near Ten Bogaerde (Koksijde), from Bruges in 1627, within the privacy and security of a big city. This new facility was accompanied by an impressive new building in use today as the Grand Seminary of the Diocese of Bruges (Potterei 72). Moreover, the Duinenabdij few years earlier, in 1624, the patrimony of Ter Doest in Lissewege incorporated. In Doest was also a Flemish Cistercian, who in 1559 was assigned to the bishop of the then newly created Diocese Brugge. In the year 1624 did said the bishop from the Ter-Doest heritage in favor of the Dunes abbey.
Thanks for viewing.

Dag, John.

Groetjes,

Hi John,
The presence of the persons has an effect of scale. The point of view leads our eyes toward the end of the corridor which is giving depth and perspective to the composition. The use of a tripod and the exposure time of a 1/4 of a second is making the light to have a good effect on the colors. Well done, have a nice day.

Hello John.

Hi John,
You have had a great idea in the choice of an almost symmetrical framing, in a composition with a magnificent perspective of the corridor and with a strong and beautiful graphism, due to the repetition of the arches and the columns and to the geometry of the checkered tiles in the floor pavement.
The visual effect is grand. A beautiful work.
Best regards,

You don't photograph indoor ambiance very often but when you do it it's another masterpiece! The sense of space and perspective is fantastic, enhanced by the black and white tiles on the floor and the series of arches. (You are fond of this kind of composition and generally you use trees to create the same effect). Another feature of this photo that strikes us is the excellent clarity and sharpness of every details even in the far distance, and so the great sense of reality.
Very pleasurable.

Bonjour John,
