Photographer’s Note

A typical farmhouse in the Flemish polders, between Damme and Oostkerke, some km of Brugge.

A polder is a low-lying tract of land enclosed by embankments know as dikes. In Europa, there are polders especially in Netherlands but also in the north of France and Belgium.

Hi Roger,
A fine picture with these clearly defined horizontal lines in different but very harmonic colours. I like that greygreen together with the orange roof. Also those vertical trees contribute to the composition!

on a déjà vu ces polders sur TE et là, encore tu nous montres cette ferme longère sur ce polder et tu as pris soin d'inclure les deux troncs d'arbre et tu sais que j'aime assez inclure des arbres ou troncs dans les compositions
une belle maison de caractère avec ces volets et porte rouge

Fascinating construction. It looks as if the house and barn is connected, yes? It looks also as if it have been constructed in at least three different parts. Very interesting. I like how the trees in the foreground frame the shot and keep it from falling off the page. Nice point of view at nearly ground level. Thank you. Judy

Ces maisons aux toits oranges et aux ouvertures rouges sont vraiment photogéniques . le cadrage est bien vu , avec un premier plan verdoyant très interessant .

Hello Roger,
The ridge line on that farm house is really showing its age, amazing that the timbers can sag so drastically but still maintain their integrity. I must look up some detail regarding the design of these houses, the roof space with the very high gable seems totally out of proportion the the height of the walls.
An insightful capture.

Fantastique iamge, ce toit ondulé avec ces tuiles rouge est mangigique comme une petite vague l'effet, avec le cadrage des deux troncs d'arbre, le champs de blé qui donne un sper premier plan mouvant, mangigique ensemble.

Roger,
Good quality photo, good sharpness, good clarity. Compositionally not the best, The tree trunk is a bit distracting, the cropped make the house seem squeezed down into the ground. If you were to get more sky and part of the leaves of the trees to frame the iamge would have been better. Or avoid the tree all together.

Les deux arbres cadrent bien la maison. la prise de vue permet de distinguer les détails et les couleurs de l'architecture de la maison. la bonne luminosité donne un bon contraste à la couleurs blanche des murs. le rouges des portes et l'orange des tuiles du toit. bonne journée.

Ferme typique flamande avec ses toits rouges et ses murs très bas chaulés. Bon cadrage aavec ces deux arbres inclinés par le vent de lamer.
