These picture has been taken in a nice nature area from Sijsele 6 km of Bruges, during a bike trip together with my wife, we found these nice narrow road between the splendid autumn leaves of the trees, also a very nice carpet of leaves on the ground.

Small history of Rijkevelde nature.
Rijkevelde is situated on the border between sand and sandy loam and is consequently never been rich farmland.
There grew heather and grazing sheep. The plantation of conifers soured the ground and to top it all off the Belgian army used the forest as shooting cum forced landing runway even at night.
By the reduction of military activity and partial protection by Natuurpunt VZW is the recently back in the right direction. There are again moorland and a botanical garden planted, a deciduous species with regional as and drove nice as on the picture

Excellent choice of pov. The view between the two lines of tall trees provides for a great seNse of perspective, and the thick ground covering of leaves gives a great display of autumnal colour. Very good.

Hello John,

You find some wonderful places when you are on your bike rides - places which I am sure that many people in motor cars will bypass quickly and never stop to see!

This is a beautiful avenue of trees, resplendent in their autumn colours of pale yellow, green and red with the most lovely "carpet" of red leaves upon the ground, all leading to a tiny area of brightness in the distance which is beckoning us to walk along this lovely pathway.

The light is beautifully soft, the colours are vibrant but true, the exposure perfect and the details and sharpness superb.

P.S. You asked about the Canon 24 - 700mm f/2.8 L lens - yes, it is wonderful! But I can't imagine that it is any better than your 24 - 105mm f/4 L lens which also has the added advantage of image stabilisation.

I see that Canon have now brought out the 24 - 70mm f/2.8 L Mark II lens, but it costs £2,000 - twice the price of the older version!!

I feel like a surge when watching this photo, eager to walk or even run down the walkaway. There is a perfect balance between the rusty red leaves on the ground and the mainly yellow leaves still hanging on to the trees. The long lines of trees give an impression of pillars of a cathedral.

I love this time of year, the leaves making the wonderful blanket like this, and you captured it superbly with the beautiful depth afforded by the row of trees. I also love the crunch sound you get when you walk on these surfaces bedecked in leaves, and can hear that noise clearly when I look at this image. A great noise!

Really lovely POV and shot here, John - not unlike looking down a cathedral aisle, but with the vibrant colors and dim light of an autumn forest. The contrast between red leaves on the ground and green on the branches is wonderful, and the spot of brightness in the distance is a lovely effect. Beautiful work!

What a welcoming picture in the spirit of autumn and I can feel the fresh air! You've used the structure of the lined-trees to frame the image and create a strong comp taking the view point that opens up as far as distant in brilliant colors and one amazingly photogenic scene, the red fallen leaves always add value to autumn colors. this is a lovely autumnal picture. the colours of the leaves on the ground are wonderful and very seasonal. yet the leaves on the tress still look very green. in the trees around my home there are no leaves left. you have framed this very niucley with the line of trees leading the viewer to the end of the scene.

The title is without doubt exactly what this looks like, a spectacular Fall carpet. Mother Nature sure does create some majesty and you've done a fantastic job in showing it off, this is beautiful John! You're capturing well this place by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the avenue with fallen leaves dyed to autumnal tints on the ground. It's so effecive for perspective. And, it draws out a good atomosphere for trees of the both sides located in a line with the fixed interval.

its beautiful to see the large contrasts in colors and lightness/darkness.
the top portion of the photo is very bright, the bottom very dark.

Hello John,

Fantatic shot, I love the POV that put us right in the middle of the dirt road cover with red fallen leave like a beautiful carped of golden orange and red. Excellent symetrical composition with the layer trees forming a nice canopy that lead us in to the opening, like tunnel with light at the end.

Excellent quality with good sharpness and clarity and gorgeous colors.

A fine image John. It has great depth, wonderful colour and the eye is lead towards the light in the distance. A beautiful Autumn capture, but this type of photograph always leaves me wondering what's at the end of the tunnel.

Hallo John,

Warme foto, met idem kleuren, genomen vanuit een
goede standpunt: zodat er mooie diagonale lijnen
zijn onstaan en deze geleiden mooi naar het
licht op 't einde. Verdeling, belichting zien er
zoals altijd verzorgd uit. Ook mooi zijn de
kleurenlagen die deze foto bevat.
