Photographer’s Note
A view on Oostkerke church from the "Spiegelsweg"; probably one of the most scenic places in my neighbourghood. This small road connects the castle of Oostkerke with the church and is a very ancient path, already used in the early medieval times.
Something about the church: on this place, there already was a church around 1100. In the 13th century, the church was rebuilt in gothic style. The Geuex (religious rebels) brought a lot of destructions to the church and as a result, reconstrucions had to be done in the 17th century. The last destruction was at the same time the worst one and took place at the end of the Second World War. Retreating German soldiers placed 2500 kg of dynamite in the tower and blew her up. The tower collapsed and destroyed almost the entire building and a lot of the village center. Between 1952 and 1954, the church was restored in her original condition. Nowadays, the building is a protected monument.
The village itself is also very beautiful (also called the white village due to the chackeld small houses). In 1974, the village of oostkerke received the award "most beautiful village of West-Flanders". If you're in the area, just have a look. It's a really nice place

Hi Hendrik,
I like that the trees create a pathway for the eyes. The sharpness is excellent, and I like the contrast between the "knotted" trees and the snow covered ones on the left. Great details and nice frame choice. Also, interesting note.
Thanks for sharing!

Salut Hendrik

Hallo Hendrik!
I love these willows (we say "Kopfweiden") and I would like to walk along this path - perhaps next time when I'm in Cadzand. Your amospheric photo transmits winter, cold and fresh air in a beautiful way. A very inviting scenery.
Greetings from cold and grey Germany!

That is a very strange looking place because of these bold trees.
The shot is of great quality as all your shots are. It is a really nice winter landscape.
I think though I would close it up a little.
May be cut out the excess of the sky?

Hello Hendrik,
This is a very unusual and engaging scene, a bit macabre with with the tops lopped off the trees. The view of Oostkerke Church looming at the end of the path adds a little mystery. I've heard that you have had a hard winter, more snow than usual. The frost covering the ground certainly attests to that fact. Excellent note,
Regards,
Bulent

Salut Hendrik,
You captured wonderfully different scene from famous wintry part, while including Oostkerke church to your photo. Frozen trees, ground, under clear sky is creates really different and nice scene with knotted trees. Excellent clarity and sharpness, congratulations.

Hi hendrik
It looks incredibly cold! Impeccable sharpness, with the path adding good lead in lines. Wonderful warm cold color contrasts. Tfs!

Dag Hendrik,
Bedankt.
Prettige dag verder,
John.

Hi Hendrik.
Another impressive winter scene of yours. Well exposed road leadind between bold trees to the church. My only remark is that I would have removed the plane traces on the sky.

Hello again Hendrik,
All the best et un excellent dimanche.
Daniel.
