Tripods are nice, useful things. My teacher at school kept on saying "always carry a tripod with you, and don't forget your cup of milk before going to bed". School is over but unfortunately i always forget having my tripod with me, as well as having my milk prior to a good night's sleep. It is now lying somewhere at home, probably rusted already, but i know, this is my fault.
Burg Square is the Administrative Center of Bruges. It is bordered on three sides by the Landhuis van het Brugse Vrije (Mansion of Bruges), the Civil Registry and Gothic Town Hall, and the Basilica of the Holy Blood, which was the chapel of the Count of Flanders. The fourth side was occupied by the Sint-Donatius Cathedral, destroyed during the French Revolution.

Hi Deniz, what a wonderful shot it is! Excellent depth, fine clarity, great to see the colourful ambience. Great sharp image quality. A superb catch by night. Tfs.

Exactly the same here. No milk before going to sleep and the tripod isn't present when I take a picture :)
Beautiful reflections of the building and the christmas tree in the puddle.
Nice with the silhouettes of the photographers with tripod. They will probably have drunk some milk later that evening.
Best regards, Paul

i must admit it, i am to lazy to bring my tripod many times:)Hopefully i will do better next year..
Excellent reflections and light in this scene. I have not been to Bruges but i can see that there are many reasons to go there if you like architecture. Sharp shot with a nice atmosphere, well done!

oh no, not Xmas tree, not yet, I am not ready :-D.
Stunning shot with beautiful reflection on wet pavement. So how did you take it ... with tripod or without?

Selam sevgili Deniz,
Demekki ben sana benim tripod'un hikayesini anlatmamışım !

Hi Rigoletto, I laughed reading the title and your note. As you know, I am lately a lady with the tripod and I carry it all the time with me (but I haven't cup of milk before going to bed). But it doesn't always work :) and is so boooring. Without a tripod you made marvelous photo, I like the the beautifully lit facade and the Chritmas tree and its reflections. I wonder what photos made these photographers with the tripod.
Warm regrads Malgo

well, here's another one of those puzzles ~ where's the love for this sumptuous photo?
the blues of the tree vs the ochers of the building and its wonderful reflection are an unusual combination, very nice. and the silhouette of the photographer, reminding me a little of alfred hitchcock, and his assistant (?) is an inspired touch.
just the kind of fabulous photo i expect to see from rigoletto :)

the perennial dilemma-take it or not?:)
I like taking pictures with tripod, but often I´m too lazy to carry it with me:)
Great scene!I like the way the puddle kind of divides the scene into two parts-the real one and imaginative.
Have a good day

Lovely result on this, its like an optical illusion with this mirror perfect reflection and the beautiful golden light. Like you, I never bring my tripod with me either, but unlike you, I never get results as fine as this.
And the first Christmas tree i have spotted in TE this year too :)
gojo (1635) 2013-11-04 6:08
great reflections, many pictures in one, sort of. I also like the contrasting colors, but the christmas tree is way to early for me.

Nice low light shot with a great reflection. Like you I seldom use a tripod - I have it in the car but cannot be bothered to carry it. I like to move around and see things from different POV's before I take my shots and I find a tripod would just get in the way. I only use it if I absolutely must.

So you managed this without a tripod... I wonder if you locked the mirror up to avoid shake before you put it on a wall (?) Can't think it was hand-held. Apparently taken the day after my birthday! Great reflections.
macjake (48279) 2013-11-06 9:39
forgetting your tripod is a sin! lol
I hardly ever leave home without it :)
So you're showing us Christmas Trees already? its only November Deniz haha
alot to like about this photo, with its strong contrasts of light/dark/shadows/reflections and silhouettes.
nice work once again

Had this photographer known that you were producing a better foto than anything he would shoot this night AND NOT using a tripod, he may have just walked away in disgust!
You've been busy in the few days I've been away! I'll try to study all your latest postings... tomorrow!
Have a great evening, Deniz!

Very nice deep wet foreground
Very good lights control, interesting scene in the black hour

Do you at least drink your milk? :) Even if you don't use your tripod, the photo is stunning. The reflections and profusion of golden light are enchanting and I love the way the frame is so full of the architecture and reflexes. Virtually leaving no room for sky, that would be too distracting. Well you may have ignored your teacher's advice about the tripod, but he mystery have taught you to have hands as steady as a brain surgeon. Incredible sharpness at 1/8 second and that wide aperture!
Thanks for sharing
PS: NINE years on TE! Were you 10 when you joined?!!!

Tripodsuz da gayet güzel çıkmış. 1/8 elle çekim için iyi bir meydan okuma; ancak çok iyi kotarılmış. Brugge tripodlu-tripodsuz her daim güzel ve masalvarî.

Cool title :-)
No tripod, but fairly good sharpness I must say
The silhouettes are good, but its the reflections & the twinkling lights which attract me most
