History of these place:
The "Meebrug" interrupts the "Meestraat" and connects with the "Reie Groenerei".
The first mention of the "Meebrug" dates from 1290. The current name is, however, only the first used in 1440. This bridge, like the nearby Peerdenbrug Bridge, early an important connection function between the town and the neighboring suburb, called the "Braamberg", since the latter already shortly before 1246 when the city is attached. In 1390, the original wooden bridge replaced by a stone specimen, built by the famous Bruges bridge builder Jan van Oudenaarde († 1412). The ""Meebrug" is a simple arch bridge with gekasseid road. The outer facings consists of regularly cut blocks Brabant white stone with bluestone for the keystones of the arches and the covers. The parapets on the west side and the entire east side of the bridge are built of brick.
