Photographer’s Note
Easter vacation in Belgium!!
This is a shot of the Béguinage in Bruge. The Béguines were lay women who lived liked nuns without making vows. They were very unpopular with the Roman Catholic Church.
Before we went to the very rainy city of Liège for a wonderful but very wet TE meeting, we spent three days in Bruges. There we met with Didier and Hendrik
The weather was good on this day, but right after the blue hour, it started to rain. And it didn't stop until after we left Liège... But still, it was a great get together.

Wonderfully atmospheric, with the floodlit gateway and lovely blue hour sky reflected in the water. Nice composition.

hallo Schwester ;)
a good blue hour, where the subject is right in the center, the little light illuminating it just as it should be.
have a nice evening

Goedenavond Sister,
I see you had nice time in B and I'm glad that in addition to Didier you could meet Hendrik who is now one of the not so active locals but a very friendly person I met in Brussels last year. Well exposed image frozen by the long exposure.

Hi Linda,
A spooky image with dark tones and that bright part in the middle. 30 sec, lots of details on the walls, soft water with a perfect soft reflection. Most be difficult to take this one, but what you created looks pretty good....especially the mood that you put inside with the light on the house....i like that a lot.
Regards,
Henk

Hallo meine Liebe,
schön, daß du dich hier auch mal wieder blicken läßt! ;o)
Wie Henk schon sagte, irgendwie spooky... Tolle Spiegelung, und dieser kleine "Stern" unter der Brücke bringt noch das Tüpfelchen aufs i.
Liebe Grüße, bin schon wieder im Streß (work interferes with my life again...)

Linda,
This is a great blue hour shot! You have managed to blend the natural and artificial lighting nicely here. The reflection is the canal adds nice depth to the shot. The angle of the shot is nice allowing us to see more than one side of the building and the inclusion of the bridge was an excellent choice.

Hi Linda. It was very nice to have met you guys too! Nice that you chose this one as a first for Bruges. I think it's hard to beat this one composition-wise: you have an excellent balance and the reflection is complete. Maybee a little dark but on the other hand it gives the picture a poetic atmosphere and the it really makes the porch stand out. I just checked out a photo from Mark; you really are the blue-hour-experts-family I have the impression. Sorry to tell you he has a few smileys more ;-)) I'm just wondering where that phantom swan went to...

Linda,
As I told Mark, Look like you have a wonderful time at the TE meeting with our TE friends. I envy all of you.
I love your post, very moody and dark, mysterious in some ways. Not too much other distracting light, just one that illuminated the beautiful and charming church over the bridge. Beautiful water, smooth like silk with beautiful reflection. Congrats and thanks.

Hi, Linda.
Presently buried under tons of work, but I should be able to take it easier & post again by next week. Wonderful shot, both in terms of composition and exposure! Can you believe I've never been in Bruges? Such an incredible place! I guess the closest to it we got in Holland is Delft... Oh well, it's pretty late now, so... y'all have a good day tomorrow. I'll be seeing you soon,
Fulvio.
