Saturday afternoon I was in Ghent, a very nice old city with different nice old buildings.
The last years has a modern government, choice for change made, you can see on my picture, these place is very pleasant for families with children, without danger of cars, the parents can drink a good cup of coffee or a very nice beer out of the region.
I cannot make advertisement for one sort

In the past Emile Braunplein was fully developed. After the demolition of the last houses in the 60s the city council established temporarily in an above ground parking. The plans to build an underground parking garage were voted out by the people of Ghent in 1997 completely for no parking in a referendum.
One of the main thrusts of KoBra project ( Korenmarkt-Brabantplein) was the construction of the hall on it Emile Braunplein. Which is the meeting hall of Ghent, completely open at all sides. In addition, it will also form the backdrop to markets, dance demonstrations, concerts and more. Under the hall houses a new 'grand café' with a terrace in the new city park. Under the construction is good to stay and rest with shops, wc's and bike location as transportation for the car-free city.
The former art elements - the Minne-images and Mathildis clock - got a new place in the draft.
