Photographer’s Note

This sculputure is 'The head of Pierre Wissant', made by Auguste Rodin.
Pierre Wissant was one of the figures of the famous sculpture 'The Burghers of Calais' by Auguste Rodin, completed in 1889. It serves as a monument to an occurrence in 1347 during the Hundred Years' War, when Calais, an important French port on the English Channel, was under siege by the English for over a year.

The picture was taken in the museum of Fine Arts of Ghent.
It looks like the sculpture was screeming 'look at me, I'm in pain'. The woman turned her head and had almost the same pose as the sculpture.
