The last two weeks we have a severe winter period known, with a lot snow.
This picture was taken in the afternoon when the sun came out.
I try again a nice perspective to form the long row of trees and the canal on the left

This channel was a good follow target to the coast, without GPS
The First World War 1914 - 1918

The German troops arrived in our region about Maldegem, Sijsele, Damme to Bruges while the Belgian rearguard consisting of gendarmes and cavalry, drive out for themselves. Belgian gendarmes and cavalry soldiers, the Germans would still have shot from the ramparts of Damme. Then they withdrew in the direction of the Westhoek.
The Germans advanced further to Bruges (15 October 1914), Blankenberge and Zeebrugge. The day before was a great exodus to the Netherlands under way: by tram, with boats on the Damme canal, on foot, on horseback, .... In Sluis (Netherlands) was offered to approximately 15,000 refugees overnight in the town hall, the church, on barges, in erected barracks .. Netherlands was neutral in the war from 1917 to 1918 .. Stayed in Aardenburg than 25,000 Belgians. Throughout early October Zealand would almost half a million refugees are caught. After a short time a large number of Belgians came back home or they traveled on to England.
