It must have been quite an encouragement for Koentje to see on the first of the 14 hills of de ronde van Vlaanderen/Tour de Flandre. The flat country gets nasty steep here in the Flemish Ardennes

An intriguing photo - even in the small version. Here I like especially the composition with this diagonal of the street and this very green landscape. These red trikots area beautiful addition here.

The colourfully dressed cyclists add much to the mood and make an interesting addition to this fine landscape composition. I like the point of view looking across the fields towards the little village. Pleasing soft light and good colours.

Goed avond Gerrit,

A very nice landsacep with the barrier and the way which give a prospect effect. Great depht too with the village, the fields and the trees in the BG.
The four bikers give an element of life nad too nice colours which arise very well in the image.

Hi Gerrit,

From now on, every time I hear saying that the region where I come from is flat, I'll show them this "nasty steep". :-D I understand how hard these apparently smooth slopes can be for cyclists, that's one of the reasons I give to myself for rarely bringing the bicycle to such kind of terrain.

About the photo: besides its good value as documentary, the view is really beautiful, it's well composed and the red shirts make a nice contrast with all that green.

Thanks for taking us through the route of the Tour..like the diagonal here & the contrast between the red jerseys with the green. As you rightly said this area suddenly is quite steep unexpectedly in an otheriwse flat country. Well done!
