It's time to return to TE (again), since I have some new photos now and will get some more soon, I think. :-) Last week for example, I spent a couple of days in Belgium, where I visited, among others, the city of Leuven. Along with the fine sunny weather, the city offered some great photo opportunities.

Leuven (French: Louvain) is a city of 90.000 inhabitants, located in the province of Vlaams-Brabant (Flemish Brabant), about 30 kilometers east of Brussels. It is the home of the oldest university in the Low Countries (1425), of which the building you see here is a part: de Universiteitsbibliotheek (University Library). It was built from 1921 to 1928 after the first library was destroyed in World War I. It was designed by the American architect Whitney Warren in Low Countries Neorenaissance style. The tower is 87m tall.

The photo was taken at the end of the afternoon. I hope you like it and thanks for your visit! :-)

Very happy of your come-back to TE!
A nice view from this very beautiful city. Framing and POV well selected, elements of life with the peoples and colours which arise well under this blue sky.
I hope you visitesd the two "begijnhof' of Leuven.

Olá Lars, nice presentation of the architecture. I apreciate the 2 silhouettes walking with determination at left FG although I agree it's a small detail. The horizontal building makes a good contrast with the vertical tower and I love the repetition of windows along the facade and specially on the roof.

fraaie foto Lars,
niet eenvoudig, met dergelijke foto's heb ik zelf altijd moeilijkheden met het recht zetten van het gebouw. Dat is volgens mij een vak apart. prachtig uitgevoerde foto in ieder geval, mooie details, goed fotowerk.

Hej Lars,je hebt de gratie van deze oude en zeer fraaie bibliotheek zeer goed weergegeven! De plaatsing in het frame en de kleuren zijn overtuigend en de speelse verspreiding van de mensen over het plein brengen beweging en levendigheid! Een fraai beeld!

Dag Lars,

Het Ladeuseplein in Leuven, met de mooi bibliotheek gebouw, ik heb deze foto enkele jaren ook op TE geplaatst, ik vind het steed een prachtig beeld met de kerk toren er achter.
Paasmaandag, vandaar dat er zo weinig mensen tezien zijn.
Leuven is een erg mooie stad. Bedankt.

Indrukwekkende UB daar, Lars. Ik vond de studentenhuisvesting op het begijnhof ook al zo mooi.
Een goed leven als student daar.

Impressive building, with a nice high belfry in the background. The dessign is rather sucessfull, since it looks much older than it is: the architect seems to have avoided the usual excesses of rebuilding in old style.

A very sharp one. The POV is really excellent but what is really eyecatching is the combination of colors in those clear shapes, blue,red and gold dots that are remarkably attractive.

Very impressive and beautiful architecture of the oldest university in The Low Countries, very well captured. It's interesting to know that this university was founded before the New World was discovered in 1492.

Mooi voorbeeld van Neorenaissance. Ik ben nooit zo’n bewonderaar van deze neo-stijlen, maar ik moet toegeven dat het hier wel authentiek overkomt.
Je hebt het gebouw prachtig in het beeld gezet en de perspectivische vertekening op een natuurlijk niveau weten te houden.
