Mechelen Canal
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is a remnant of the canals, moats and creeks that used to meander through the old town of Mechelen, Belgium. At the beginning of the 19th century such canals were usually so polluted, the posed a serious health risk. As a consequence they were usually either filled in and/or turned into underground sewers.
In Mechelen, a stretch of the old canals was recently opened up again to enhance the picturesque view of the city.
I love skies like this; the sun shining underneath a dark raincloud. An effect that people so often try to replicate with hdr photography and fail just as many times. |

Dag Johan,
Inderdaad zeer mooi licht op dit welbekende Mechelse plekje. Evenwichtige compositie en uitstekend gedetailleerd. TFS

Hello Johan,
The canal and soft colours give a nice peaceful touch to the otherwise strict looking buildings under menacing clouds. I like the composition and POV.

Hi Johan,
Very well composed shot, beautiful light and warm colours, good depth of field,
Regards,

Hello Johan,
Very nice POV both captured the Canal and the tall interesting architecture. The details of the moss and grass on the walls are fine.
Congratulations
Sibel
Hi Johan,
nice composition in your photo. The colours are great.
I added a workshop where I highlighted the shadows to reveal some of the darkened details
Regards,
Marius.
Hi again!
Another wonderful place in wonderful town!
Despite I've been in Belgium only one and half days, I've become to love this country.
