The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal (Cathedral of Our Lady) is a Roman Catholic cathedral that dominates Antwerp with its 123 meter tower. The construction started in 1352 under the direction of architects Jan and Pieter Appelmans and it is a mirable example of medieval Gothic.
The project was changed multiple times along the centuries, and the cathedral had to endure tough events including fires and wars.
Its full restoration took almost three decades and was completed in 1993.
Inside, it is possible to admire various paintings by Peter Paul Rubens, a Flemish Baroque painter who lived and worked in Antwerp.
The white stone of the building, together with the spectacular lines of the columns that in perfect Gothic style direct the observer's attention to the ceiling and the domes high above, truely make the massive structure appear to be weightless, and delicately floating around the visitor.

Quelle bel intérieur de Cathédrale magnifiquement bien restaurée. Le dôme est de toute beauté et bien montré dans un parfait éclairage avec d,excellents détails. Encore plus beau en grand.
Bravo!… et toutes mes amitiés,

I really cannot understand why this stunning photograph has not received more attention than it has.
You have given us a very interesting and informative note as well as a spectacular photograph of this magnificent cathedral. I love photographs of church and cathedral interiors and this one is particularly special.
The pure white stonework is delightful as is the light which falls upon it from the windows and the lantern high in the dome. I love your symmetrical composition, the symmetry only broken by the organ pipes on the right. The light and colours are amazing, your exposure is perfect and the details and sharpness are exquisite.

You've created a marvelous feeling of soaring verticality. I like the symmetric perspective you've chosen. I would like to put hang this beauty in the group theme, Domes, Spires and Minarets.

Ciao e buona giornata

Hello Alberto - This is a magnificent structure and an equally beautiful shot. I take my hat of to those who manage to accomplish interior shots like this, I have no success at all! You composition accentuates the soaring proportions of the tower and I am struck by the beauty of the fabulous Gothic details and your excellent light management. The volumes and relief in the white stone are a symphony of light and shade. This shot is worth way more acclaim than it has thus far received. Excellent; a real joy to see. Warm regards rosemary

Nice shot. I like the lines and how graphically it could appear as an angel's wings. Appropriate given the location. I see you are a fan of wide angle lenses like me too.

I see folded up 'angel wings' suspended to cupola, supporting the organ pipes and the nearest candelabra at left, in this intense vertical perspective!
Many thanks for the overall perfect depiction that shows the minute details of this superb monument.

Would love to see those beautiful architectures in Europe, they so elegant and ornate especially the Gothic style. Awesome capture of the interior of this church wit good lighting considering you were only using available light and good details. WEll done, tfs.
