Photographer’s Note

KMSKA stands for Koninklijk Museum van Schone Kunsten van Antwerpen, i.e. the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp.

It is located on the Leopold de Wael Plaats, in south Antwerp. The impressive building was designed by the architects J. Winders and F. Van Dyck between 1884 and 1890.

The permanent collection houses paintings by Flemish masters, such as Van Eyck, Memling and Breughel, and the local masters Rubens, Van Dyck and Jordaens.

There's also an impressive collection of 20th century Belgian artists, including Ensor, Permeke and Rik Wouters.

Being able to visit this museum as much as we want, is one of the things I like about living in Antwerp.

PS: This summer the museum will be closed for restauration, and some of its Rubens painting will be exposed in the cathedral.
