Photographer’s Note
The whole dune range starts in Halsteren (Holland) and stretches into the Kalmthoutse Heide in Flanders over a total of 25 kilometres. In Holland it is also called Brabantse Wal (Brabant Wall) but it is often forgotten that part of this ‘geological wonder’ lies in Flanders.
It is located on the border of the lower sea clay area of Zeeland and the higher sandy grounds of the Kempen.
The steering forces behind the origin of the Brabantse Wal are dual. Firstly the tilting movements of the Belgian-Dutch soil play an important role. The massif of Brabant was lifted and parts of Noord-Brabant and Midden-Nederland dropped. This is the reason why south of Bergen op Zoom sediment from the Ice Age can be found close to the surface. This sediment of clay and sand is the foundation for the Brabantse Wal. Near Ossendrecht the layer is about 30-40 metres thick. The clay banks that originated this way are called Kempisch Klei. And because of the presence of this clay, the Northern course of the river Scheldt could not touch the Brabantse Wal, and the actual steep slopes came into existence. During the last Ice Age the Brabantse Wal was covered with wind-borne sand deposit, which gave it its actual shape.
here you can find this good note.
Yes i was there yesterday. It was a white world. There was snow fallen, but there was not a good light. i made a lot of photo's this is one of them I hope you like it.

Very natural promenade in the countryside.
A good note for the geological history of this area, I liked a lot.
Good colors and wet aspect of the place and a mood with the sun coming hardly throught the clouds.
Compliments

Bonjour mon ami Jaap,

One of the first winter scenes; it certainly looks cold. Good composition with the snow and grasses forming a border around the frozen pool. There is a bit of noise in the sky, but I think this adds to the drama of the image.

Hi Jaap,
Winter is begining and here is a picture for the incoming cycle nature season. I like the low angle approach you did creating a fine depth an a vertical format. The sun rays through the grey clouds and their reflections in the water and snow. Very well seen and a beautiful composition.
Congratulations and have a nice day. Best Regards.

Hallo Jaap,

groeten,
Luc.

Hi Jaap, It looks cold over there. The under exposed ground and the spot light in the sky show the cold and foggy environment and the special winter mood. Interesting image.

Mooi werk!
Goede week toegewenst,
Bert

A good and reaslistic seasonal impression, Jaap, in which the dull sky that doesn't give room for a lot of light enforces the atmospheric element. To brighten the whites already in camera (if you want), you can try to overexpose by 1/3 or 2/3 of a stop, I've gotten quite good results that way.

Goeie middag Jaap,
Mooi shot Jaap.
Groeten

Hello Jaap,
no doubt, winter approaches...
Sun is hiding, few colors to recognize with weaker intensity - but sunny winter days will come for sure! Even views like this one have their charme.

Hi Jaap - a very different side of this landscape, the gray skies are not unusual for Antwerpen, but the snow is. The cold and wet atmosphere is perfectly presented. It is cold and wet in California today as well.

Hello Jaap !!
This is a wonderful winter view. Even without a bright sun you've managed to produce another beautiful picture as usual.
Well, I was in Holland in the first week of November... it was not so cold !!! Looks like the weather has changed very quickly.
Great shot !

Hi Jaap you captured the mood of this shot very well. I may have included just a little less sky and tilted the POV more to the pool. Very nice work.

Hi Jaap.
This one has a very interesting and nice atmosphere. I like the foggy sky and horizon. Good management of light and contrast (and it was surely uneasy to do !). Beautiful Composition with good POV and nice choice of crop. Thanks for sharing !

Bonjour Jaap.
