The Red Star Line Museum is a modern and interactive museum located in the historic Red Star Line buildings in the harbour of Antwerp.
With their whole life packed in a few suitcases, millions of people sailed from Europe to America after 1800. The United States and Canada were the promised land for fortune seekers and everyone looking for a better life.
For many people, the trip to the New World began in a warehouse in Antwerp. Red Star Line ocean steamers paved the way to a new life for about two million men, women and children between 1873 and 1934.
The historic sheds of the legendary shipping company with the red star in its flag currently house the Red Star Line Museum.
The museum tells the story of the millions of Europeans who were courageous or desperate enough to leave their old life behind and look for a better existence.
In the workshop I uploaded an old picture of mine which shows the sheds before the restauration.

Hello Benny ,
Une prise de vue attractive , pour ce sujet intéressant , mélange d'ancien et de moderne . Et le contraste briques rouges - ciel bleu fonctionne toujours bien .
Très bon WS aussi .

Interesting, Benny - in the states we hear so much about Ellis Island and immigrant ports, but not nearly as much about the points of departure. Should I find myself in Antwerp, I will without question head straight to this museum. Wonderful image of it as well, with the modern structure hanging behind it and the bikes lined up in FG. Carefully composed and executed - thanks.

Nice graphic shot with a part of symetry in foreground, then broken by the tilted tower in background. The sunny weather was allowing to collect nice satured colors.

Une note intéressante sur ce musée a l'architecture a la fois moderne et ancien, la lumière et le ciel sont superbe, bien composer avec les vélos en avant plan, la présentation en WS est fort intéressante
