Photographer’s Note
In the middle of castle Het Steen - Antwerpen
Het Steen is a historic medieval castle in the old city center of Antwerp, Belgium. Built in 1200 - 1225, Het Steen is Antwerp's oldest building.
The castle made it possible to control the access to the Schelde, the river that flows through Antwerp. It was also used as a prison between 1303 and 1827.
In 1890 ‘Het Steen’ became the museum of archeology and in 1952 an annex was added to house the museum of the Antwerp maritime history.
