Photographer’s Note
On the cold and bright morning of December 29, I put on my comfortable walking shoes and went a walking in my hometown...
---
These are two boats on dry land. They belong to the Steen museum. The Steen is that famous castle we have. The museum it houses, will move to the new MAS, the 'Museum Aan de Stroom' (Museum of the River), a new museum which is being built to deal with Antwerp's shipping history and our harbour as a place of immigration (especially to the States). The Steen castle itself will become a children's paradise.
Greetings from Antwerp.

Dag Benny,
Bedankt
Prettige zondag,
John.

Hi Benny,
very attractive photo. I like how you placed the elements in the frame. There are nice textures, specially in the foreground and the boat is a good focal point as the background. Very good photograqphy sense, well done!

Carlos

Hi Benny. 'Great blistering barnacles' as Captain Haddock would say! And as Carlos says, you have placed the elements very nicely in the frame which shows you have an eye for composing a nice shot. Happy new year to you. Chris

Dag Benny,
Light well managed in this well composed photo from our common home town. All the details in the black hulk clearly visible. And an interesting document too.
Tot ziens,
Paul

Hello Benny:
It is a very simple but interesting. There are sharp features in the foreground and balance with what is displayed on the back. Good frame, good contrast.
The 2009 is full of happiness and success for you and your whole family.

Hi Benny, I can only offer an echo of earlier critiques, nice idea, using the bow of the one ship in the FG. I guess it was difficult getting the exposure right, keeping the detail of the bow in the FG without losing the sky, but the blown out part of the sky doesn't detract much. Cheers, Steve

Hello Benny,
Very good work of composition on this shot with the details on the first colorfull boat and the second one on background with its high chimney.
The title fits very well.
Yves.

Hi Benny,
this is a concept I like very much, also on other occasions. 2/3 of the area in uniform and monotone colours, and 1/3 vivid, with contrasts and patterns.
WEll, and here the numbers add some tension and are points of interest.
Well done, compliments, Christian
