Marianna Tootsie singing a 'bis' during this year’s Brussels Jazz Marathon... Another photo of her, here... and another one in the WS :

As I am specially interested by faces expressing emotion (pleasure, joy - if not trance or extasy), the WS one could be better for my theme... although a friend of mine tends to disagree...

(Translating from French some infos that I could get on the net :
Mariana Toutziarakis, of Greek origin, was born in Brussels in 1980. She performed on stage since she was 5 years old. (…) Attracted by world music, she developed her voice with various groups (Miary Lepeira & Sairy, Tatouages, Marlène Dorcéna,...), in particular with Nama (vocal band with female singers N'Java et ex Zap Mama) with whom she discovered a capella songs and techniques of ethnic singing. She performed in France, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, Morocco…

She has also a jazz carrier and has sung with famous artist from the Belgian scene such as Manu Hermia, Patrick Delterne, Philippe De Cock, Augustin Foly, Ivan Paduart, Bart Denolf,Joost Van Schaik, Sal La Rocca,Théo De Jong, etc... also with Maurane in jam sessions…)

bonjour catherine,
this will be a very good addition to your theme - well suited dark background for the singer in the middle of her performance - good work!

Salut Cath,

Hi dear Cath,
What a nice surprise, to see an entry of you in quite a different theme. Very good pov and nice compo and light management. Very good use of dark background.
Nice notes as well.

Chere Catherine,

A bientot!

Branko

Not the most fortunate cropping of them all..
the one in WS (smiling) - seems to be much better, dynamic, and closer to our eyes...

The hanging down limb of her arm doesn't add dynamics whatsoever...
It's the 'dead' element of the photo...

Her expressive face and her right hand with the microphone...
More than enough to create the jazz in there... In your photo...

Bonjour Catherine,

Amicalement
Marilyn

Dear Cath,

Where moments wait the dearness to be captured, sensible in concept.
This has the protoganist in it's high esteem....
Beautifull image, that has the creative vision.
Good tone balancing.
Well done.

Wow...that sure takes a lot of talent and some exremely wonderful controls to get it right. I like the way you have composed the shot and have managed the lights

The colour, the moment of movement, the shapes created, framing and sublime sense of her involvement in the song are really nicely observed Catherine, I would have been inclined to capture more of the front of her face - just an eye perhaps, a small turn of the head towards me - but I really appreciate what you have seen here.......for I would have missed something different and quite special.......

best wishes KEv

Hi Catherine,
this is one of your best shots. There is a good composition and a good management of color and light; great sharpness too.
But above all there is a fantastic face expressing emotion, how it like you.
Brava!
