My second of a series showing Belgians, hence the frame with our national colours ;)))

Met a group of men of Moroccan descent during the 1st evening of the Brussels Jazz Marathon, in a narrow space behind the big stage in our Grand Place...

They liked the music, but they were really eager to talk also... Some barriers came down...
(NB : if I am not mistaken, it's only in Iran that the "thumbs up" gesture is obscene !)

(NB : photo taken at around 9pm when there was not much light, with a camera that I'm not used to handle... About the PP, I did not really know what to do ! Just experimenting...
As always, your ideas and advice are welcome, I need to learn more !

Hi Cath, this is something different from you - where are the colours of India?? For this image I think the muted colours work well. Think I would have preferred a less obvious interaction with the camera from the man on the right, but the like the expressive face of the one on the left. Composition works well with the main subject well to the right and drawing the viewer into the BG in steps (his friend, the wall and finally the other people). Cheers, Steve

Hi Catherine:
I love this one, the comunion with the camera and with you that they show. Maybe I would have avoided the two girls to the left of the photo. But not sure. About the PP, it´s not bad at all. Gives it a special touch.

Salut Cath,

Hello Cath,

Looks like you've embarked on an interesting series on that little great country of ours. Thumbs up!

(I'm a bit too tired for French, otherwise I'd have written in French. So now I'm using English as a lingua franca...yes, we Belgians are strange.)

Une superbe scène de la vie quotidienne, une rencontre, un contact...mais je n'aime pas trop ton cadre tricolore ;).
Amitiés encore. Grazyna.

Hi Catherine

I'm intrigued what the Moroccan guy at right is doing with his tongue? A superb dual portrait with good dof & sharpness. A well managed backlight shot too. Tfs!

Dear Cathy...
As great as this 'catch' is - the final presentation is screaming of horror !!!
If you respect yourself as a photographer - do not please... Do not frill your photos with that kind of the frames ( shall I say: decorations?)...
There is no reason of whatsoever to make them 'cute' or (the worst word in photography) neat (like 'Neat Image" brrrr)...
This is so ‘YOU’ in there…
This incredible eye contact, your presence is so bold in there, and so visible…
These two dudes…? A dream for a good photographer, and you snapped them just about as good as only you are able to do, and then…. What ?
You framed them in some color strips…???
C’mon, gal…
This is a photography in there… Your photography…
A good photography…

The color strips ?????
Yeah… Sure… (:-))))))

g.

Good street photography. I like their moods and emotions - and youve captured it with style. Good skin tones, too.

Cheers!
Dave

Hey Cath,

A lovely set of portraits, I especially like the high contrasts and clarity. It gives a sense that the picture is old, and has some fine textures or details. A nice take on the .. rasta frame. :>

Best regards.
