Photographer's Note
In medieval times Brussels stood at the intersection of routes running north-south (the modern Rue Haute/Hoogstraat) and east-west (Chaussée de Gand/Gentsesteenweg-Rue du Marché aux Herbes/Grasmarkt-Rue de Namur/Naamsestraat). The ancient pattern of streets radiating from the Grote Markt/Grand Place in large part remains, but has been overlaid by boulevards built over the River Senne, over the city walls and over the railway connection between the North and South Stations.
As one expects of a capital city, Brussels is the hub of the fan of old national roads, the principal ones being clockwise the N1 (N to Breda), N2 (E to Maastricht), N3 (E to Aachen), N4 (SE to Luxembourg) N5 (S to Rheims), N6 (SW to Maubeuge), N8 (W to Koksijde) and N9 (NW to Ostend). Usually named chaussées/steenwegen, these highways normally run in a straight line, but on occasion lose themselves in a maze of narrow shopping streets.

Ciao Daniel
Buona giornata
Carlo

Hi Daniel,
You have captured a very pleasant view of this peaceful street. The light over the empty street is very good and the is a good blance between the street and the blue flags along the side. Beautiful background buildings.
Kind regards

Hello Daniel,
A fine composition from the blue hour with a bright blue foreground. There is an interesting connection betweent the shape of the blue flags and the curving street below. The evening atmosphere is very well captured.
Kind regards,
Gert

Salut Daniel, de unde ai facut poza, te-ai urcat pe vreun stalp? Foarte fain ai prins strada asta care pare ingusta dar banuiesc ca nu era kiar asa. Imi place si cerul, pacat de macaraua aia.
Salutari!

I wonder if maybe this should be titled 'Intersection', Daniel - not just because of the interesting subject matter of your note, but also because of the presence of so many interesting intersecting lines throughout. The dotted center line, the crosswalk, the lines of buildings and windows, and of course the pyramid lines on the blue flags at right, which are wonderful colorful elements here. I like how you've set this up, I feel like my eye is being led through the frame in a really dynamic pattern. Thanks!

Daniel
Joli cadrage vertical utilisant de belle façon ces oriflammes bleus et avec une belle perspective nocturne sur la rue. Je crois que j'aurais essayé de faire "disparaître" la grue!

Hello Daniel
A great shot that is really made by those strong colours in the foreground that draw you in before the leading lines take your eye right to the end of the road. Great image.

Hi Daniel
Good idea for interesting composition. The shape of the flags reflects the curve in the street. Great concept.

Hello Daniel
A well framed street shot, with the flags leading the eye along the street. There are many good graphical elements in this scene, from the yellow flag poles to the stripes on the building behind them to the dotted line on the street.
have a good day
Daniel
