Photographer’s Note

Mir is a small town( population 2,500)located about 90 km southwest from Minsk, the capital of Belarus.

Founded in the 14th century Mir became home to a medieval castle, which attracted many attackers over the centuries. Mir also claims to have been the original home of once thriving Jewish community (all gone now) and Mir yeshiva( where students study sacred texts, primarily the Talmud).
Nowadays incarnations of the yeshiva are in New York City,USA and Jerusalem, Israel.
