Green trucks (1973) Photo

Photographer’s Note

I photographed these green trucks on the road between Moscow and Warsaw in 1973. I am not exactly certain whether this portion of the road is now Russia or Belarus but I have decided to call it the latter.

Apparently tens of thousands of these green soviet trucks known as 'ZIS 151' were built in the USSR following World War II.

This is a scan from a kodachrome slide.

wow! this is a piece of History! LOL Interesting juxtaposition: side and front...
Fortunately, there are no such trucks here anymore :)) These are the trucks of my very early chilhood :)

This is certainly a historic document, a bit sad and a bit amusing at the same time. Being an avid scanner myself I do appreciate these testimonies of days gone by. I notice that today I beat you by about ten months!

Gert is right concerning this historic document which really is sad and amusing at the same time. I can remember that I have seen these vehicles in the former GDR. TFS!

Hi Marlene,
I remember these trucks from my childhood, which I spend under criminal communist regime in Poland. The life wasn't easy under soviet occupation, because all polish food: flour, meat, butter, vegetables was robbed by Russians and we have had just nothing to eat in Poland.
Thanks God, now my country is free, but we still remember 50 years of bloody Russian occupation. Thousands of Polish patriots paid with their blood and life for our today's freedom.
WE STILL REMEMBER! It was only 20 years ago...

This cars is not from Belarus! On board GAZ 51 (side) on door R.S.F.S.R. = Russia. ZIL 131 (front) rejestration C... Is not belarusian cars!
