Open Space Living Room Photo

Photographer’s Note

This image is first the story of a disappointment, on my way to Budapest last summer I had carefully planned my trip to visit or revisit some places like Cesky Krumlov or here Hallstatt, never been there before as I had discovered this charming village on TE, if I remember well on Jean-Jacques' gallery. Unfortunately the weather decided it would be a dull and very rainy day, but since I had come all the way to Hallstatt I went for a small early morning discovery walk of the village, during which I discovered this interesting artwork probably illustrating the austrian custom to offer the visitors to their living room a panoramic 360° view over the mountains...
For those who miss a blue sky there... stay tuned ;-)

Complètement incongru, génial !
Le ciel noir, la brume, les montagnes... Tout cela ajoute à l'image un côté glauque, ça fait un drôle d'effet mais j'adore ce décalage.
Belle trouvaille originale, et le pas-Pix'ciel Terror te va bien aussi ;o)

Trop trop bizarre ce salon-aquarium au milieu de l'eau... Quelle idée ! J'adore ! L'ambiance grise et lourde ajoute une atmosphère étonnante, et donne surtout envie de grimper l'échelle et respirer en dehors du bocal !!!

Hi Jean Yves. Amazing! Make me wonder if this is for real. I like the tall backrest of the master's chair. Composition captured to perfection with stunning reflection and well anchored subject. Dull weather gets other opportunities to take fantastic images that others doesn't take.
and you succeeded, Im not sure that you would have the same mystic mood in bright weather even if the mountains had been more visible.

Désolé de t'avoir induit en erreur avec ma photo ensoleillée! Finalement, cela t'a obligé à trouver quelque chose d'original et là tu as fait fort, plus saugrenu c'est pas possible. Y a une échelle. Ils mettent des hommes grenouilles dedans?

Effectivement, tu n'as pas eu de chance avec le temps. En tout cas pour cette photographie. Les nuages apportent tout de même une ambiance à cette image étrange.
Pour le fun, j'ai tenté un WS. La couleur n'étant visiblement pas l'attrait principale ici, j'ai essayé un noir et blanc.

Et tu t'es réveillé à quel moment alors?
Parce que là c'est plutôt hallucinant comme vision. Le soleil qui perce mais qu'on ne voit vraiment que dans l'eau, les nuages-mi-brume qui semblent en mouvement sur ta photo, la salle-à-manger en pin des îles, et la cerise sur le gâteau la botte du capitaine sur la table.
Etrange, à la limite inquiétant même... mais terriblement bien pris!

C'est une photo surprenante : j'imagine très bien la scène d'un repas : les serveuses et serveurs en tenue noire et blanche, sur un mono ski, un plateau à la main flottant à surface du lac ....

Despite the so called bad weather, you deliver here a great show imho. I have heard of the place, but did not knew about this artistic artwork inside the water. I like such things a lot and your image fits perfectly too it. No need for a blue sky here, it would only draw the attention away from the artwork. Just that bright reflecting part is enough to brighten the whole image up...i like it, very good.

Very curious, unusual, and amusing...Of course it might be more appealling under a bright blue sky but, with the rainy weather it also has its charm... It increases the sensation of loneliness and incongruity of the creation, in this opened space. Your composition, including the reflection of the artwork, is elegant and well mastered. And what a good way to turn frustration into something positive!

BG is just so mysterious and FG, all of a sudden, stamps your face with this amazing, unusual artwork. And together the combination is lethal!!!

that 'thing' is so peculiar... the cloudy, almost monochrone, setting works fine for me here. do you know what are those tags on the frame for? seems like some numbers. different water levels or someting else?

What is a surprising sight. Very special and interesting photo. This strange sight looks unlikely in the wonderful environment. Land Art artists put similar creations on to this. The landscape merely beautiful, in this manner but to a strange vision similar. Superb photo! Thank you for sharing!

Not always a rainy day or a cloudy sky turns out to be a bad looking image! In this one, for example, the low clouds over the mountains are very attractive and beautiful! The reflection on the water surface is also very nice! The detail of that "dining room" right in the middle of the lake is also a important highlight!

Hallo Jean-Yves! Sind das Deine neuen Moebel fuer Dein Appenzellerhaus :)))))) Das ist ja eine Hammerinstallation und ich finde der graue Himmel passt bestens und die verhangenen Bergspitzen bringen eine gemuetliche Ambiente. Man koennte ein paar Kerzen aufstellen, dann waere es sogar ganz nett auch im Nebel dort zu sitzen und eine Tasse Tee zu schluerfen. Das waere eine Toplocation fuer alles moegliche, allerdings ist man auch ziemlich ausgestellt und muss sich benehmen, anstaendig essen ... GRINS. Schoener Abend, Barbara.

Cette installation est surprenante.
Hallsatt est pour moi associé au Premier âge du fer, aux mines de sel préhistoriques. Les brumes, les couleurs grises du lac et de ses environs correspondent : les nuées originelles.

Le moins que l'on puisse dire est que la place laissée pour l'exterieur n'a pas été négligée: les enfants ont de quoi s'amuser ;)) Dommage, en effet, que le soleil n'est pas été au rendez vous, mais peu importe car les nuages à raz du lac, apportent eux aussi une contribution particulière au résultat.

definitely not the usual view of Hallstatt. But taken into account how many tales, myths and real stories are connected to the town (and not a village since 1311) and the lake the picture is yet more than a nice landscape. (The more since the clouds give an impression of the curious and sometimes very dangerous wind pattern of the southern part of the lake, that led about 150 years ago to the death of half of the population of Obertraun village returning home by boats from a funeral in Hallstatt.) As for the artwork I have found following description:
"Plastic figures made by sculpture pupils are anchored in the lake along the Lake Road to foster consideration of historical facts, absurd occurrences, regional specialities and misunderstood traditions. They are part of the project 2008 WORKS OF ART DISPLAY"

J'adore ce genre de cliché, la montagne est toujours belle, même avec des nuages ! Le cadrage est optimum et cette plateforme avec les chaises et la table apporte presque la seule touche de couleur. bien vu

étonnant, étonnant ! je trouve que c'est une image qui semble être extraite d'un de ces rêves que nous faisons au cours de notre sommeil, un truc suréaliste quoi ! c'est incroyable comme installation, mais à la fois follement attirant, enfin...avec un rayon de soleil - cependant ce ciel gris ici, pour la photo, donne un aspect mystérieux indéniable - étonnant !

I take it as it is, some stunningly curious art work with a landscape of equal bizzareness. The landscape itself is nice, but without the surrealistic artwork, it would only be a landscape...

C'est très original, et cela me fait un peu penser à l'univers surréaliste de Dali! j'aime l'atmosphère crée par le ciel gris et ses nuages ainsi que la texture un peu métallique de l'eau.

Never mind the blue skies - well, they have their charms (I guess) - but this misty backdrop looks perfect to me, by turns revealing and concealing the landscape - it's a treat!

Surreal foreground - probably a bonus!
