Photographer’s Note

The top of the Pestsäule (Plague Column), located in Graben street in the inner city of Vienna.

The column was built between 1683 and 1693 to thank God for the end of the 1679 plague epidemic.

The geometric structure on the back, which provides such a perfect framing for the sculpture, is on the roof of the building behind. I wonder if the effect was intentional.
