Ski Paradise Photo

Photographer’s Note

I know I know we already have summer temperatures and I am still posting photos of winter, but I just had to post some more shots from my Easter holidays.
I took this on the 12th April in Ski Paradise located on the glacier at Kitzsteinhorn - Kaprun (911m - 3029m). Here you can ski or snowboard 365 days of the year.
The sun shimmering in the snow gave the effect that the mountains were made of silver. It was a wonderful experience for the eyes.

wunderschöne Aufnahme des Skigebiets. Die Weite ist wundervoll zu sehen und die kleine Punkte der Skifahrer auf den Pisten und Liften kommen gut rüber. Die Zeichnungen auf dem Schnee gefallen mir ausgezeichnet. Eine sehr ansprechende Wintersportaufnahme mit kraftvollen blauem Himmel.

That does look like a ski paradise! I like the composition on this one--the line of the ski lift cutting through the picture, and the highest peak at center in the background. Great job.

The contrast between the deep blue of the sky and the white of the snow/ice is something amazing Liliana. this is a great picture, well composed, stunning colours and superb sharpen.

Hi Liliana,
The light is here strange, it makes the snow looks grey and on other parts pure white. I like these play with highlights and shadows and know how difficult it can be to make the best out of it.
Deep blue sky, perfect contrast to the snow, very important.
Like your border also, thin lines in soft grey...very good..!!!

You are right, the sunlight against the snow give the impression that the mountains are made of silver. Good colors and POV. Great composition.

Hi Lili. A great photo of a superb looking resort. The colour of the sky is amazing (polariser?) and you've kept the snow 'white' instead of the blue that often appears. Really nice shot. Kind regards, Paul.

Hey Liliana,

I like the scale of the landscape using skiers gliding down the slopes. Shimmering 'silver' texture and contrast has strongly shaped the horizon very well. It has gracefully outlined so many details like lines and the edges of the mountain slopes. The beautiful blue sky adds life to this snow wonderland!

Hi,
The light angles are producing interesting silvery tones on the upper slopes. Initially appears as a quite empty scene but there is lots happening in the fine detail. Thanks.

The sun light reflect by the snow is not the problem to obstruct you to make a good photo, good composition and good pov to have cable cars and sporting peoples in this image.

like toys on a tableau..the skiers are dotted in a good formation to make the wide panel of snow interesting
dominating sky..polariser?
exposure has made the snow look like snow..not mud or burnt out

A beautiful crisp shot with very attractive highlights. The absence of very strong glares which are always associated with snow suggested good lighting control and the presence of the skiers give a strong feeling of space. Splendid shot!!

This mountain under a beautiful blue sky is impressive. The presence of skiers is giving an idea of the size of the mountain. The point of view leads our eyes towards the top of the mountains. A place to relax and enjoy skiing. Have a nice day.
