My Winter Quest Photo

Photographer’s Note

My Winter Quest has earned fruit and I have discovered the real winter well hidden in the depths of the stubaital valley near Innsbruck. You can see here the snow falling and falling during the week to create the white carpet of winter enchantment, mixed with the many wooden barns typical of this region. Temperatures averaging -12°C in the morning and rising to -5°C during the day were perfect to enjoy this winter atmosphere while above on the glacier they rarely rose above -15°C to contribute to total winter enjoyment :-)

je vois que la neige attaque de partout et bien rapidement ,
on se retrouve sous un decors magnifique je trouve .
je vois aussi qui fait autant froid que j'ai moi !!!.

I like tour winter theme here. Composition is strong, you can really see the snow coming down. Well done and enjoy all that snow!

Il fait froid! Et tu as survivé à la neige et la tempête. C'est magnifique l'image que tu as capturé, bienvenu le froid si les résultants sont comme ici. J'aime beaucoup la perspective des deux cabanes, le magnifique arrière-plan avec les arbres enneigés, et surtour la sensation du froid merveilleusement réussie! Félicitations, et bon weekend.

Now this really looks like winter, not those sunny blue sky scenes, because in this one you can see the snow coming down and you can almost feel the cold. I like the way this conveys the sense of the weather so well. Great work!

Nice snowed shot. i like snow and here in Chalkis it's not snowing too much and too often. Great catch of the snow falling.

Great composition with the cabin in the mountains and the snow falling hard. I like the fence in a diagonal line. The light is superb.

I like this spare and minimal view. I reminds me of a Hiroshige print, with the simple strong lines and the falling snow. I like the atmosphere of the shot, but I can't share your delight in cold weather , I afread, I never want to own another padded jaket again. Regards Kevin

Lahiho, c'est une cabane au fond du jardin !
Jolie l'image avec la barrière, le bois est chaud en opposition avec le paysage.

Cette image pratiquement monochrome exprime parfaitement l'hiver. Je vois que tu lache de plus en plus souvent ton réflex. Un peu de fatique durant cette dure saison ?

Je vois que tu es allé cherché la neige là ou elle était ! L'ambiance est on ne peut plus hivernale dans cette image ! Le décor de montagne est bien mis en scéne ! Le format carré est sympa ici !

Bon ok, je m'arrête sur celle-ci aussi. Tu sais ce que j'aime le plus dans cette photo? C'est un détail. Et comme je ne sais trop de ce dont il s'agit, je ne sais même pas comment te dire ce que c'est!!! Bon, je m'essaie quand même. Tu vois le devant de la cabane (celle à l'avant-plan, bien sûr!)? Il y a la "galerie" et un ramassis de je ne sais quoi. Eh bien, j'aime la neige qui est venue se déposer sur ce je ne sais quoi et qui forme des diagonales, comme des coups de pinceau laissés par un peintre. Ça, tu vois, c'est ce qui m'a attiré l'oeil tout de suite. Et bien que le reste du décor soit très plaisant dans cette photo (particulièrement, la couleur "rouille" de bois contrastant avec les tons gris du reste), je regarde avec délectation ce petit morceau si joli...
Claire qui n'est pas folle, mais peut-être un brin gaga! ;)

Hi Jean Yves, your wishes came true. Finally it is winter and snow is coming in big quantities. I hope that you still had the opportunity to sky and have some fun at temperatures of -15 degrees Celsius. Nice composition with the fence and te two houses in a repetitive manner ... and the snow coming visibly down on your camera!

Salut JY,
En voilà de la neige, tu as trouvé le pov et le fond pour faire ressortir les flocons avec le bois de cette cabane (enfin ces ..)et aussi cette barrière qui donne du contraste à la vue, pas facile avec de telles conditions de chute de neige et de brume pour sortir quelque chose en photo, là tu t'en tires bien.

Salut Jean-Yves,
let me take your snow impression for my return. Also in the neighbour region of the Montafon we had snow ..from your week. The trees are very similar under the snow and the hut with the fence are beautiful exposed. I like deep falling snow on your capture here which is based by the wonderful composition.

Very nice picture. I like the positioning of the shack very much and the other one in the background adds (next to a nice detail) depth to the photo. Great sharpness, nice exposure and good colors.
