Photographer’s Note

As many valleys in the Zillertal, the Zillergrund (grund = valley in the Zillertaler Alps) ends with an impressive concrete wall, 180 meters high retaining the water of the surrounding glaciers.
It is located at 1800 meters altitude and only reachable by feet or bus, the individual cars have to park at 1400 meters and go the rest by foot (or bus of course).
On the other side of the dam, you will find a nice lake surrounded by many alpine peaks and the nice Plauener Hütte that I visit that day.
Here it is on the way to the refuge.
On the left you can see the Grosser Magner,2873 m and above the lake, the Grundschartner,3066 m

Une magnifique vue. J'aime beaucoup le cadrage. Les couleurs sont superbes. La partie foncée est peut etre un peu trop grande selon moi.

Hello Didier,
tu sais , j'en suis certain que je suis un grand amateur de barrages. J'ai pu visiter celui du lac de Moiry, mais j'ai raté la Grande Dixence, pour cause de route emportée par un torrent la veille :-).
Le barrage de Mauvoisin doit aussi valoir le détour.
Mais je vois que du côté où tu es allé, c'est pas mal non plus.
Une photo claire, nette et bien colorée, du pur nikonisme, Nikonator, pas mal comme pseudo :-).
Le cadrage et le pov extraordinaires, cela te revient de droit.

Magnifique prise de vue de ce coin très similaire aux Alpes Suisses.

lovely framed image with a superb depth of field, sharpness and clarity...wide angle does an excellent job...it seems like one is looking out of a den with the foreground you went for...the colours are very natural...cheers, arturo

Very beautiful Didier! The composition with all thise diagonals resultes very well. Love the colors and the sharp details. The still water of the dam has an incredible mood and gives a very peaceful character to the scene. Very good indeed!

Joli paysage, avec des belles couleurs même sans le soleil, un ciel gris mais avec des contrastes, le seul point d'ombre, va ce justement le coin noir .....

Hello didier.
What a beatifull landscape!. But there is something strange : on the right, bottom the water seems to go UP and DOWN!.
How do you explain?.
I think the left part is too under-exposed (or is it the result of filter usage?).

Nice composition EXCEPT that bottom left corner, which on my monitor at least is just a big black hole.. what is going on there? You have also sharpened it far too much for my tastes.

Salut Didier,
I was here last year, but the weather was cloudy, cold and the light was terrible.
Now i see what i missed when the light is much better.
A very nice viewpoint, although the left part is a bit dark.
The brightness and clarity is wonderful...good work.

You took this picture on a very lovely place, I not agree with the previous writers about the shadow Didier, this gives a excellent contrast in your image, this make your picture very great, very well composition good perspective and splendid colours.
Have a nice weekend maybe in Ghent, on sunday ideaal moment for a visit a few visitors.

Hi Didier,
There is good depth in this shot, taken from a superb POV. The dark foreground framing is apropos, with some great light hitting the top of the bushes. The clarity of detail allows the viewer to appreciate the fine features of the crags and gentle ripples of the water. A very fine capture, Didier.

Joli cette région alpine que je ne connais pas sinon de nom. Tu as abandonnné ton D200 ? La vue du barrage au fond du lac laiise imaginer une grande profondeur.

Again my lovely place! What beautiful it is. Excellent capture and colours, although you`ve darkened a bit too much the sky (my opinion;) ) and it looks a little unnatural.
