This picture shows the rooftop of Salzburg Cathedral which dominates the skyline in Salzburg.
Consecrated to St Rupert and St Virgil, it is
the third cathedral building to be erected on the site.
It was originally built in 1614-1628 by Santino Solari, and completed in 1652-1655.
With its magnificent façade and mighty dome it represents the most impressive early Baroque edifice north of the Alps. |
