A very long time Austria was at the end of the western world and at the time you took that pictures (1970) the borders to out neigbours in the east were under strict control. The austrian military was patroling in this area. Nowadays things have changed. Our eastern neighbours are in the European union and passing the borders is much more easier. So cold war is over. This was very important for our eastern neighbours (also hungary) but also for my country because we have better relations (especially economic relations) to our neighbours. Thanks for the picture and it reminds me of the history of my country
