Hallstatt is a typical Austrian village with 950 inhabitants on the shore of Lake Hallstatt, located in the district of Gmunden, Upper Austria province.
The village consists mainly of a main street and some houses due to lack of space, were built on stilts (piles over the waters). Hallstatt is a fabulous place that visitors love to visit.
The cultural landscape is local Hallstatt-Dachstein since 1997 UNESCO World Heritage Site.
