Photographer’s Note

Hohensalzburg Castle located in the city of Salzburg, Austria was constructed in 1077 by Archbishop Gebhard and was significantly enlarged by Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach between 1495 and1519 and has become one of the largest, fully-preserved fortresses in central Europe. During the Hungarian and the Peasants' War in which the province of Salzburg was involved, the archbishops sought refuge within the castles walls. It was during this time that an arsenal and granary were added by Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach between 1495 and 1519. The castles exterior has remained substantially unaltered since then. Not only did Hohensalzburg serve as a temporary residence for the prince archbishops for many years, the castle also served as military barracks and as a prison. Prince Archbishop Wolf Dietrich was held captive in the fortress for five years by his nephew and successor, Markus Sittikus, up to his death in 1617.

Hello Georg,
My photograph of the day makes pale figure compared with this one. The point of view and the low-angle shot give of the nobility to the castle. I am enraptured by the light, and the green colors, and the sky. Very very beautiful clear realization and which it is a pleasure of seeing. Congratulations.

Hello Georg,
The trees make a fine contrasting frame against the grey stones of this very impressive castle. I like the upwards point of view and the inclusion of the lamp. Good natural colours and excellent sharpness.

salsbourg une sacré ville que j'ai visité il y a bien longtemps mais je me rappelle de ce chateau qui émerge de la verdure, un choix délibérer de mettre le vert en valeur, ce chateau parait encore plus grand, bon boulot

Hi Georg,
I can imagine an invader trying to conquer this castle and looking up this view. This looks like an impregnable place! But the lamppost in the foreground brings us back to the present! A very fine picture!

j'aime beaucoup le relief de cette photo de par ses fortes couleurs et contrastes puissants dans les lumières. Une contre plongée qui donne beaucoup de panache à ce château.

Konkretny kadr i naprawde wspaniale oraz ciekawe miejsce. Walczylem z podobnym w Portugalii. Ladnie to pokazales z naturalna, zielona ramka wokolo. Zielony dobrze jednak dziala na oczy ;)

Nice composition here with the trees providing nice framing for the castle. The upward view of the shot is great showing how this fortress towers above Salzburg. The lighting and colors are fine and the nice sky provides a good backdrop for the shot.

Widzialem cale mnostwo zdjec z Salzburga -no i sam Salzburg na zywo ale zupelnie nie rozpoznalbym tego miasta z Twojego zdjecia.
