Photographer’s Note

This is a path in a Maisäss, a place where cattle stays in May, before it can be driven up to the high mountain pastures - depending on the snow conditions up there. The photo was taken during a wonderful hike in an altitude of about 1600 metres high above Montafon valley in the Austrian state Vorarlberg (please see map view right hand). Here within 3 hours I met not a single person and the only noise was the chirr of the crickets - a place light-years away from "normal life" ...

The mountain in background is "Valschavieler Maderer", 2769 m.

Bonjour Frank,
une photo qui symbolise bien, avec le titre, les moments que nous aimons tout vivre de temps en temps, ceux de la solitude et du calme, loin de tout.
Une superbe profondeur d'image avec ces sommets qui semblent à la fois, proches et éloignés.
De très belles couleurs naturelles.

une vue très classique (j'en ai posté une comme cela récemment :)) , mais toujours bien agréable . les prés fleuris et la montagne sont superbes . Le petit plus , ici , sont les courbes successives du chemin .

It looks like a wonderful place to hike. The path leads us in; all teh way to the distant mountains. The steep slope almost bisects the image in half diagonally and the wild flowers add another touch of colour. Well done

belle photo de cette double trace qui serpente dans la montagne.
Jolies couleurs, belle vue générale de ces herbages et de ces autres montagnes.
La seconde photo est de toute beauté aussi et montre bien le genre de terrain renconté a 1400 mètre d' altitude.

Hi Frank,
A really good composition; it starts already with the good anchoring of the path to the corner. The path winds along the field to the slope that gives a very strong diagonal, separating the picture into two parts. A breathtaking view in the background!

Hello Frank,
There is lonesomeness and there is lonesomeness. A few days ago I visited the village in western Sweden where my brothers and I grew up, and I was only depressed by the emptiness and dullness of the depopulated area, a village slowly dying. And then there is the quiet emptiness of beautiful Alpine mountain-sides like these. Who wouldn't like to be lonely here?

j'adore ces chemins à flanc de montagne dans un cadre ydillique en ce qui me concerne, ces montagnes pour moi c'est tout malgré que je sois parisienne, tout est calme, personne, une flore montagnarde et allez! chaussures de marche et en route pour la randonnée et découvrir des paysages nouveaux

I see this is not in Switzerland, but I'm almost expecting to see Heidi and her grandfather in this landscape. This is the Alp of the children's stories. I was some 10 years old when I saw the series [*] on Portuguese TV.

I like this photo from the swiss alps. The way leads the eye back towards the mountains nicely. It's also a good depth of field. It surely looks very lonely up there.
