This photo was taken last summer in Montafon valley in the westernmost Austrian federal state Vorarlberg. It was taken from the slopes high up in the tributary valley Silbertal north-east of the small town Schruns.
Left hand you can see a mountain called "Sulzfluh" (2818 m) and right of it - separated by the most beautiful valley "Gauertal" the "Three Towers" (3 Türme, 2830 m). In the middle of the picture you can realise a forest aisle. This is the aerial cableway "Golm" which carries hikers up in a great hiking region there.
To the right you can see a mountain with its top in the clouds. This is "Zimba" (2643 m).
All these mountains belong to Rätikon mountain range, a part of the northern limestone alps. Along all these ridges runs the border to Switzerland and Liechtenstein with a rather cliffy slope to Rhine valley behind them.
In front of the mountains from left to right across the picture you can see Montafon valley.
In the map view left hand I put the marker on my point of view. The photo was taken in southwestern direction.

Mit der hoffnung auf besseres Wetter grüßt

dear Frank,
this large version is really excellent!
(surely 800pix. photos don't have the ability to express the real view, always I feel so)
I saw your this shot on my 23inches(display), 40inches(TV) and 100inch(projector), all are wonderful.

Hello Frank,
Especially in the version large then place looks very grandiosely. Is visible the power of mountains in sharp and strongly foreshadowed tops. Several years one was in belonged that here to spend, to recognize this region and mountains. Congratulate successful panorama Frank. Me not always goes out this trick.
Best regards,
Jurek
