This photo was taken last summer in Montafon valley in the westernmost Austrian federal state Vorarlberg. It was taken from the slopes high up in the tributary valley Silbertal north-east of the small town Schruns.

Left hand you can see a mountain called "Sulzfluh" (2818 m) and right of it - separated by the most beautiful valley "Gauertal" the "Three Towers" (3 Türme, 2830 m). In the middle of the picture you can realise a forest aisle. This is the aerial cableway "Golm" which carries hikers up in a great hiking region there.

To the right you can see a mountain with its top in the clouds. This is "Zimba" (2643 m).

All these mountains belong to Rätikon mountain range, a part of the northern limestone alps. Along all these ridges runs the border to Switzerland and Liechtenstein with a rather cliffy slope to Rhine valley behind them.

In front of the mountains from left to right across the picture you can see Montafon valley.

In the map view left hand I put the marker on my point of view. The photo was taken in southwestern direction.
