Back to summer ...

This is the small curch St. Nikolaus (St. Nicholas) of the village Gortipol in the upper Montafon valley in the very south of the Austrian federal state Vorarlberg. The first church here was built about 1500 and it was consecrated in 1503. It was destroyed by an avalanche and after this the today's church was built and consecrated in 1694.

In the workshop you can see the church from the other side and a view of its magnificent interior.

Hi Frank,
With this photo you bring summer a lot closer! You can almost feel the warm sunshine here. The composition is very good and the WS:s are also very good. We must have passed this church but I do not really remember it...

Guten morgen lieber Frank,
Wusstest Du, dass fast alle Kirchen und Kapellen entlang der tuerkischen Mittelmeerkueste "Hagia Nicola" heissen ? Schutzpatron der Seeleute. Aber eine Heilige Nikolaus hoch im Voralberg, interessant ! Schon wieder etwas dazu gelernt. Schoenes Licht und tolles Hintergrund, die der ganzen Szene diesen 3 D Effekt verleicht.

PS. Ich schicke Dir hier als WS ein Kreuz aus der kleinen Kapelle in Myra (tuerkische Mittelmeerkueste) wo man glaubt dass der heilige Nikolaus gelebt und gestorben ist.
Dort haben alle Kreuze, unten den Schiffsanker !

Hello Frank,

It is good to remember summer when it is so cold outside!
This is a very beautiful, white church, captured with a sharp exposure which gives it crispness to the details.
I like the pov which uses the dark green of the trees for a good, contrasting b/g.

Hallo Frank,
eine hübsche, freundliche Kirche (mit Holzdach?) vor einem passenden Hintergrund. Die alternative Aufnahme gefällt mir vielleicht noch besser, da man dort die Struktur besser sehen kann. Tja, der Sommer ist doch angenehmer als dieser kalter und grauer (da ohne Schnee bei uns) Winter!

Point de flocons sur ce bel endroit autrichien comme sur Mont-Saint-Grégoire ou sur Siegen aujourd'hui ;o)
Très belle église avec son clocher à bulbe brillant. Ton shot s'est fait avec un POV "au ras des paquerettes" comme on dit en France, offrant une grande image en contre-plongée.

Joli contraste que cette église blanche devant les sombres sapins . Le clocher à bulbe est vraiment superbe .J'aime bien aussi le point de vue du WS , moins perpendiculaire .

Bien prise cette église avec son environnement, bonne gestion de la lumière malgré les très forts contrastes avec cette teinte très claire des murs de l'église illuminés par le soleil, bon résultat.

This is a great old church! The interior is outstanding and you presented nicely here. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The deep green of the mountain provides a great backdrop for the shot.

une tres belle photo de cette superbe chapelle, un cadrage latéral bien vu, une chapelle typique et l'intérieur de par tes ws est sublime
le clocher lui aussi est typique et original et ce retour en arrière dans la saison plus chaude nous permet de voir l'environnement de cet écrin de verdure des sapins qui l'entourent et des montagnes

Lovely church, ideally located in a beautiful environment.
Your ws is interesting too, but I prefer this one, for its great clarity.
Also the grass full of little white flowers is a detail that I like.
