Maria Schnee Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is the little Baroque chapel "Maria Schnee" ("Mary in the snow") in the upper Montafon valley in the Austrian federal state Vorarlberg. It's situated near the village Gaschurn there. Maria Schnee is a popular pilgrimage site and somehow the landmark of Gaschurn.

It was donated in 1637 by Lukas Tschofen by reason of a solemn promise on the occasion of rescue from a dangerous situation in the Thirty Years's War. He was an imperial captain and it is said that he captured a foreign war chest which made him a wealthy man.

That sure is a pleasing and quaint shot wich seems straight out of a pictre postcard. the colours and textures are lovely and very well managed. good pov and good use of the depth. Nice one

Frank, ta photo est bien composée en donnant une grande place au premier plan tout en volume et en couleur. La petite église et l'arbre qui l'accompagne sont superbes. Je trouve un manque de netteté dû à la compression, un passage par PhotoFiltre doit faire l'affaire.

Bonjour Frank,
Toute belle composition de cette "papagolfade" de style Baroque.
La région a l'air très intéressante par ces vallées entourées de hautes montagnes, tout le contraire du Québec ou ici tout est plat ou presque!
Je me suis amusée à faire quelques retouches, tu me dis ce que tu en penses!

I like the composition of this photo which includes the grassy area- it gives us a better concept of the setting. The WS is a more classical composition. Both "work" for me.

PS. You must have really enjoyed your summer vacation riding around and taking photos of these idyllic settings.
BTW: Do you speak English anyway near the way you write it?

Das kann man nicht so oft sehen und das ist markzeichen die Sud Deutsche lander(AUT. CH dabei) und das habe ich nur in Eigental(LU)gesehen vor lange zeit.

Another womderful photo from Vorarlberg and Montafon Valley. This is nearly perfect, but I also think that the green part is too large. I would like to add myself to those who have made a WS and hope you do not disagree. Otherwise a very fine picture.

Cette petite église perchée dans une photo que tu as parfaitement cadrée, me fait penser à de nombreuses églises slovaques par sa couleur blanche et son clocher à bulbe.
Son environnement est grandiose.

Vermisst ! Toll gestalter, ganz guter Blickwinkel und was mich am meissten beeindruckt hat : die Lichtflecken durch die Platane (?) auf dem Kirchenturm ! Und wie üblich, ganz gute Erklaerungen dazu.

Ein Foto, wie aus einen Heimatfilm der 50er Jahre. Fehlen nur noch die Hauptdarsteller als sich küssendes Liebespaar, er mit Lederhosen und sie im Dirndl. Einen ausgesprochen schönen Flecken hast du dir da ausgesucht, der genau so aussieht, wie ich mir Österreich (das ich kaum kenne) immer schon vorgestellt habe.

Je visite ta gallerie pour la première fois alors je vais déjà donner 2 points à cette église car elle est vraiment pour moi une vue symbolique de l'Autriche. Un clocher à bulle, les montagnes en fond et ces collines d'herbe verte devant. J'aime l'importance que tu leur fait avec ces si jolies courbes. Le blanc de l'église dans cet univers bleu et vert est formidable.
I visit your gallery for the first time and I already will give 2 points to this church because it is really for me a sight symbolic of Austria. A bell-tower with bubble, mountains in bottom and these green grass hills in front. I like the importance that you makes them with these so pretty curves. The white of the church in this blue and green universe is fvery pleasant.
