Waterfall near Oetz 2 Photo

Photographer’s Note

My first upload was of a little river next to the road in Tyrol (Ötztal) from Oetz to Oetzerau-Ochsengarten. A littlebit upstream I found a few days later this spot. I put my tripod almost in the water to get this result. I had dark, rainy weather so it was not so difficult to get a longer shutterspeed. In this case the shutterspeed was 13 sec.

Hi Klara, nice attempt . I like the effect in the water, the rock on the right lower part can be cropped, I think this is also the sharpest bit, I would have preferred the falling water to be the sharpest, what do you think?TFS,Manoj

Hi Klara,

This is a nice composition, and I for one am a fan of using longer exposures on water like this. I agree with what mmohan as said about making the falls the focal point of the shot, but I like the inclusion of the rock on the bottom right with the wood chip on it as this adds a new colour component to the shot.

Hi Klara,

I was immediately attracted to the silky look of the waterfall yet when I looked at the picture in full size something was missing. For me what I think my eye keeps going towards are the objects that are the sharpest, which are the rocks and the greenery in the background. When I look at them they aren't at the forefront and my eye loses interest. I think if you composed the image with the rocks to be the main focus and let the water blur around them it would make for a stronger composition, in my opinion.

I think technically you did a super job with the slow shutter speed and exposure. I hope you take this critique constructively. You obviously know how to use your camera.

Des couleurs magnifiques et un très bon cadrage.

Very nice long exposure - a extremely peacefull setting. The upraging dead trunk is somehow disturbing my eyes - but it is only marginal. Well done. TFS Thomas
