Pastel-Coloured Peace Photo

Photographer’s Note

Salzburg is really a beautiful place. Everything about it I found to be soft, pastel, gentle. Maybe my impressions were influenced by the morning's snow, and the grey clouds that covered the city in a diffuse, soft light the whole time I was there. But the clouds did open slightly as I waited at the viewpoint and allowed this photo with a hint of blue sky in the background.

The story here is similar to the viewpoint story when I went to Bled, Slovenia. There were other tourists in the city, but none of them seemed interesting in climbing to the viewpoint with me, so I was able to enjoy the pastel-coloured peace of the city in solitude. :)

Hi, Jordan,

This is a lovely image. Your vantage point, the soft dusting of snow, and the changing weather created a great opportunity. I like the juxtaposition of the residential buildings in the foreground, the church in the center of the frame and the castle on top. Very nice!

In places, the photo does not seem too sharp. I've tried making some adjustments in a workshop post. Have a look.

waow .. another angle view from Salzburg...
Dome/Cathedral as foreground and Hohensalzburg fortress as a back ground .. all look clear and sharp

This is a nice overview of this great city. The snow adds a nice touch to the shot giving the scene a sense of quite and calm. Your composition is nice placing the cathedral in direct line with the fortress. The lighting and colors are fine with nice sharpness and detail. Salzburg is one of my favorite cities and I always enjoy seeing photos of it.

I wish I had time to climb to this vantage point when I was there to take such a nice photo. I like the three different levels here that gives it depth. I just would sharpen it a little.

Nice even exposure throughout here - nicely done. I like the layers and levels with the buildings - much to take in.

A fine view of Salzburg in soft natural colours, well fitting with the wintery environment. Good to resist the temptation of pumping up the colours as is done far too often!
