Photographer’s Note
Construction of the fortress began in 1077 under Archbishop Gebhard von Helfenstein. This original design was just a basic bailey with a wooden wall. In Salzburg, the Archbishops were powerful political figures, and they expanded the castle to protect their interests. The Investiture Controversy influenced the expansion of the castle, with the Salzburg Archbishops taking the side of the Pope. The castle was gradually expanded during the following centuries. The ring walls and towers were built in 1462 under Burkhard II of Weißpriach. Prince Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach further expanded the castle.
In 1515, Cardinal Matthäus Lang, who was later to become the Archbishop of Salzburg, wrote a description of the Reiszug, a very early and primitive funicular railway that provided freight access to the upper courtyard of the castle. The line still exists, albeit in updated form, and is probably the oldest operational railway in the world.

Hi Asa,
This narrow passage gives really a good idea of protecting walls. And wide angle with a bit leaning perspective emphasizes that impression. Good contrast. Different styles of walls suggest how this has been built over long period of time.

Hallo Asa!
An impressive photo of this impressive fortress. You managed this difficult light on these bright walls skillfully and the eyes are led to the background. Today a place of tourists and receation - but some centuries ago ...
Greetings from summerly Germany!

Hi Asa!
The brilliant white contrasts beautifully against the dark polarised sky. I like the way the huge foreground quickly disappears along the path to a smaller background making a nice sense of scale. Only one thing I might have adjusted; seeing as there are so many straight lines close to the photo borders I probably would have tried to correct the distortion vertically, or at least changed it a little (because the shot has been taken looking upwards). I can see from the distant lines what you have is pretty accurate technically, but I think a better compromise could have been achieved if you played around a little.
All the best :)

Hello Asa,
Beautiful architecture picture and great colour contrasts between the white walls and the blue sky.
I think this is a rather unusual photo of Salzburg and I don't remember this view (but it's a very long time ago I visited Salzburg).

Hi Asa,
the presence of the people has an effect of scale. The point of view is allowing us to see the details of the architecture of the fortress and tof the othe buildings. The quality of the light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Asa,
Well done with that white front lit tower, very good exposure. I like the distortion of the wide lens, it crowds the frame nicely, the way the buildings on each side lean towards the center works well.
Good POV and the composition balances very nicely.
When they built the fortress, they did a good job it seems to be standing the test of time really well.

Well, Asa, it has the girth of a fortress, but there's a certain quaint charm in the scene before us. I like the light and shadows, the way you draw us in with the ancient street, the nice contrast of that azure sky. A pleasing composition.

Hi Asa,
When I was here I had trouble finding a good perspective to really show the feel of the place, but you chose an excellent vantage point! The shadows' interplay on the buildings is interesting, as well as the nice contrast between the bright whites of the buildings and the strangely deep almost blackish-blue of the sky.
Cheers!

Hello Asa ,
What a well chosen POV , to present this really intersting castle . I like a lot the great contrasts of the white walls with the blue sky and the more dark parts . It seem to me that there is a little lack of sharpness . So I try to make a WS .
Best regards
