Photographer’s Note

Hohensalzburg Castle is a castle in the Austrian city of Salzburg. It sits on Festungsberg hill. With a length of 250 meters and a width of 150 meters, it is one of the largest medieval castles in Europe.
Construction of the fortress began in 1077 under Archbishop Gebhard von Helfenstein. This original design was just a basic bailey with a wooden wall. In Salzburg, the Archbishops were powerful political figures, and they expanded the castle to protect their interests. The Investiture Controversy influenced the expansion of the castle, with the Salzburg Archbishops taking the side of the Pope. The castle was gradually expanded during the following centuries. The ring walls and towers were built in 1462 under Burkhard II of Weißpriach. Prince Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach further expanded the castle.

Hello Georg,
A good composition of this lovely castle which puts it in context on its hilltop above the city. The grassy bank on the left makes a pleasing tonal contrast with the rest of the scene. Very good light and colours, complemented by good sharpness. Thanks for sharing.

Czolem Jurek!
Nigdy nie bylem w Salzburgu, a juz patrzac na miniaturke wiedzialem, ze to Salzburg. Fotografia wrecz ikoniczna, symboliczna dla tego slynnego miasta.

Une très belle composition offerte à travers cette prise de vue très réussie. Le cadrage est parfait pour donner toute la beauté majestueuse du château dominant fièrement la ville. Le ciel ajoute encore de la joliesse à l'ensemble.

Czesc Jurek,
to jest naprawde opad szczeny.
Bardzo oryginalny punkt widzenia -swietnie pokazuje centrum miasta w szerszym kontekscie, najczesciej ludzie ograniczaja sie do scislego centrum.
Tym samym masz pewne elementy przyrody, a jednak widac tez cale bogactwo starego miasta. Trawa bardzo wzbogaca kolorystycznie w przeciwnym razie byloby troche za ubogo. Niebo tez bardzo udane.
Domyslam sie ze lekki HDRek ale doskonale wykonany,
Naprawde wspaniala praca,

Bonjour Georg,
on sent très fort le post processing ici, qui donne des lumières un peu particulières et inhabituelles, l'endroit en ressort plus original. Notamment ce ciel aux teintes très particulières.
Excellent POV et cadrage, un endroit bien choisi.

Hallo Georg,
dieser phantastische Eindruck wäre ohne die Kondensstreifen am Himmel perfekt! Aber da kann man leider nichts machen. Wunderbare Farben und ein ganz einmaliges Licht über der Burg, dieser Platz ist schon überirdisch schön, wie gut, dass die Menschen den Bezug zur Erde wieder herstellen. Klasse Arbeit!

What a nice view of my favorite city!
Your composition is great using the river to create a diagonal through the shot. The off center placement of the fortress is great. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The sky is great and you have captured it nicely.
