A lots of time people thinks that the camera (and the
lens) makes the picture. The most importent factor is
you: the photographer.
I know I have the Samsung NX10 and the Canon 5D Mark II.
Good stuff, so I decided to make a picture from the
camera of my wife, the Canon PowerShot S100, to
show that there is no excuse about you can not making
good picture with a compact camera (ofcourse one with
a manual function).
Ofcourse with the other camera's the picture would
be a little bit better, but I think this picture is
at least better than a lots of pictures in the map of
favorites: the quality of this site is deteriorating.
But that's my opinion. More importent is to enjoy
with making pictures and with sharring that.
About my point of view: more to the right and a
had a tree trunk in the picture. More to the left
and I had to much leaves. The vertical position
emphasize extra the depth and makes the waterfall

You are right that the most important is the photographer as the composition and what the photographer wants to show is the main thing. But if the camera was not so important why should people buy expensive -and heavy! - gear when the same would be achieved with pocket one? I would summarize this that poor photographer will do nothing with a good one ( I will no buy anything else) and good photographer will make stunning shot with a mobile.
I am happy to see you again here. Of course one with
a manual function - old blond lady makes everything automatic :(. I still can't do such silky water.
have a nice day

this is indeed a nice composition. The image quality is superb. Nice flow of water shown by 1/1.25. Great colours and fine light. Nice to see with the surrounding greeneries. Excellent shot in vertical. Tfs.

Some compact camera can produce best results, so the title is not a perfect choice - to my humble opinion. The view is great and so doe's the composition. Enchanting location on the open nature.

J'aime beaucoup ce genre de composition.J'aime le flou très calculé de l'eau et le cadrage vertical qui donne un peu d'ampleur à la petite chute.

i agree with you that the photographer and the theme are the main characteristics of a photography with the camera and the lenses to are importants too,to fill the quality of it.I like your theme of this beautiful waterfall.

Totally agreed with you about the degenerating of the images quality on this site
Some fantastic pictures are removed because they do not fit with the TOA and hundreds of shitty images stay there because they so-called represent a part of our world...this is a real pity
But i have my list of favorite people on TE and it's good to see them posting a nice picture once in a while ;)
THank you for this one anyway !
ON the right part of the image, what are these metallic pieces ???

Ciao e buona serata

A good example of a successful picture with a compact camera, congratulations to the photographer!

Tu as fait la démonstration étincelante que c'est plus le photographe qui fait l'image que la qualité de l'appareil! Tu as réalisé là une très bonne photo avec un excellent filé sur l'eau.

photography is an art and you have a flair for it, so it is only natural that you can be creative with any type of image capturing system. This shot is proof of that and I must say comes up to the high standards you set. I love the fg green luminescence and of course the milky waters add to the sublime beauty of this image.

I like the feel of rapid movement of the water whilst the motion effect is nicely registered rending a fine contrast to natural green setting. Good color saturation and the exposure is so subtle in serene setting. This is gorgeous, the pov is good, great dof and brilliant detail throughout. I think you have captured the atmosphere perfectly, very soothing to the eyes. Congrats

You got it right even with the camera I mostly use as it is easy to carry. The special effect that you always create is there to see.I would like you to post more images on regular basis.TFS.

Once back from my vacation at the beach, I'm active again in these pages.
I agree with you, the camera is important, but the taste of the photographer through the frame ..... is final for success.
In this case the POV is great, with well captured nice waterfall to one side of the plane, leaving visible in beautiful surroundings, greenery, plants and river stones.
Very nice range of colors.
Superb brightness and sharpness.
I wish you a good day.

You got a really good shot with the small camera! Exposure and composition are very good indeed and knowledge was surely more important than the camera. You managed light very well, I like the result!
HimalAnda (6918) 2013-09-17 0:03
I totally agree with you, Robert.
The most important is the photographer, the way you see the scene, what it makes you feel and how you will taken the picture to capture this moment.
This is a beautiful picture, with a good long exposure management.
