house, drifting to waterfall Photo

Photographer’s Note

Due to the windy conditions the clouds were flowing like a broad river, heading towards a waterfall.As the fog reached exactly the bottom of the house on the hill, it seemed to drift on water....

please check out the position of the house in the map, you can see it very well in Google Earth (esp. in a tilt view). I took the pic from top of Dobratsch mountain.

is that really a house there?! absolutely amazing sight, it does look as if that building is drifting towards the waterfall. I like a lot how thick and soft the fog and clouds look, and the feeling of motion is perfectly obvious. beautiful shot, Christian, nothing more to say.

this one is even better. What a magnificent display of clouds, they really do appear like a strong river flow, just about to carry with itself this poor small house all the way to the fall. It is simply WOW shot. I see how it was worth spending cold night there. :)

Hallo Christian! Das Besondere an diesem Bild ist ganz sicher der Fluss des Nebels und natuerlich dieses Haus, das ganz einsam hervorlugt aus dem weissen Nichts, und dann die zarten Farben, die so schwierig sind zu beherrschen und die Du immer voll im Griff hast. Da hast Du wahrlich einen speziellen Moment erwischt ... man muss halt raus und ihn finden, gell. Gruesse aus der Mittagspause ... Barbara.

An amazing view! Like in a dream yet so true, the fog is of the most beautiful texture, what a splendid contrast to the rocks in the foreground. Excellent composition this sea of clouds going to the mountains and the sky. The little house is the cherry on the cake, imagine being in there...fantastic ! Great light and neatness too. A beautiful present of nature to a very good photographer.

Wie würde der alte Leopold sagen? Der Meister des Nebels hat mal wieder seine Maschine in Betrieb gesetzt! Tolles Bild mit sehr schönen unterschiedlichen, klar dargestellten Nebelszenarien und nebenbei eine aufregende Geschichte mit dem gefährdeten Haus. Dein Frieren hat sich wirklich ausgezahlt! - und danke für den Nebel, sonst würde man wohl Villach sehen :(!

Wow!! I’m in a dream scene, moving along a river of clouds, hovering weightless in a silk carpet... One of those catching pictures that reminesce. Perfect framing of the house, the mountains in the foreground and on the horizon, although for me, the overexposed sky is an issue (I’m sorry). It would be one of my favorites in the genre if you could have managed to use an hdr, a photoshop layer mask blending of a couple of brackets or a nd grad filter in order to hold the highlights of the sky. But you got to see this beauty yourself, and I’m sure you’ll bring more of these!!
