A picture over the Austrian-Alps taken from the air, on flight from Cologne to Tel-Aviv at an altitude of 33,000 ft.(approx. 10km).
The attached WS show same area without a zoom extract.
Location was about north of Lienz, Austria, assuming around Nationalpark Hohe-Tauern or the Grossglockner: 47.18, 12.7 on the map.
Took these photos 33 minutes after those Frankfurt pictures.

A fine bird's eye view of these majestic Alpine peaks. Well exposed and remarkably clear despite having been taken through the plane window, which are often scratched and dirty.

Excellent aerial shot. Usually clouds, lighting , dirty windows, no window seat, wings etc. prevent you from taking the photo you would like to take. Here lighting, clouds etc. were on your side and you did not miss the opportunity. TFS and have a nice weekend!
pierrefonds (63416) 2014-01-11 5:47
The point of view is showing the details and colours of this area of the Alps. The reflections of the light on the snow is wnhancing the colours. I like the workshop picture also, have a nice day.

ourania (41362) 2014-01-11 7:39
a remarkably clear photo though an airplane window. I love the suggestion and mystery of this awesome view, the range runs down the frame in a fascinating way. Textures and colours are impressive, you managed the light effectively and captured an amazing atmosphere. The wider view in the workshop is marvelous too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,

anche tu non riesci a rimanere indifferente allo spettacolo che si vede dagli oblò.
Credo sia impossibile, soprattutto per gli amanti della fotografia.
Bel colpo, la vista era molto buona e si vede anche dalla foto, bello anche il ws.

Now these are some of the best "airplane shots" I've come across, what an amazing perspective on the Alps! My personal preference between the two is the WS, I like that wider view. That being said, you can't go wrong with either one, they're both deserving of a main post. The altitude really helps understand just how immense and grand these mountains are, and the low lying clouds give them an almost mystical appeal. Love the clarity too, there doesn't appear to be any distortion or scratches from the window. These are great Ike, thanks for sharing the views! Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

This is a pleasant photo in many ways. The zigzag created by the mountain peak is interesting. The light and shadows emphasize the 3D effect. The mountaintop above the clouds evokes a sense of awe. But most importantly, not a streak or smudge or color shift due to the thick glass pane of the plane's window.
krzychu30 (15512) 2014-01-12 2:08
the raw beauty of the Alps is amazing!
I enjoy your idea of taken such picture from 10000m high. The mountains look beautiful in this light and covered with snow and clouds around.
Simple,but very attractive composition!
Have a nice sunday
Royaldevon (36185) 2014-01-12 3:16
It makes your tummy wobble!
A great bird's eye view!
The clarity is amazing considering that it has been taken through a small window!
There is no doubt about the imposing nature of these mountains as they thrust their heads through the clouds and into the sky!
A lovely diagonal composition!
Have a lovely Sunday,
Cricri (115557) 2014-01-12 7:36
Fantastique paysage de montagne, une scène extraordinaire que l'on peut ne voir cas cette hauteur, belle lumière, belle présentation aussi en WS
mkamionka (34685) 2014-01-12 7:53
very impressive view. I never managed to produce a satisfactory photo from a plane. The clouds add a very nice touch here, and the mountain range makes a nice diagonal curve,
Very well done!

Bonsoir, cher Ike,
La vue aérienne sur ces glaciers est impressionnante.
C'est là que nous mesurons la petitesse de l'homme face à la nature.
Très belle prise de vue.
emka (91544) 2014-01-12 23:33

I knew a men who lived in my hometown and was born in linz. I passed at side of the town in 1987.
nice view of the peaks covered with snow, this image remember me when I crossed the andes by plane and look like the plane was so near of the peaks.
delpeoples (56726) 2014-01-13 1:05
I remember flying over these magnificent Alps many years ago and being in sheer awe of them. As I come from a country where our largest mountain is a little over 1000 metres, these Alps impressed me no end. This is a beautifully finished photo. The colours and definition are top quality and it's hard to believe it was taken through a window.
eldancer1 (35569) 2014-01-13 7:32

An angel's point of view on earth reveals the unseen to human eyes and I now understand why deities and saints chose to establish Paradise so high in the skies!
What an appealing view on hostility!!
fabbs99 (17129) 2014-01-14 21:36

nikkitta (17066) 2014-01-16 13:08
Thats exactly why I always ask ( after investigation) for a specific side of the plane, here the sharpness and clearty are remarcable, not scratch or dirty providing a true eye view of the Alps
Well done, congrats

This is a real aerial view of snow covered mountains. Although the picture was taken through the window, the quality of image is excellent, both in clarity and sharpness.
kato (11630) 2014-05-09 20:27
You'Re capturing well this Austrian-Alps by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interestng and impressive to see the Alps taken from the air. It's tasteful for the upheaval of the rock covered with snow and floating clouds. Ans, it's also impressive in the unreserved rock which is visible to some places.
berek (47456) 2014-07-26 0:40
When i looking at the your beautiful picture gallery of photographs caught my eye this winter. from an impressive alpine mountain nature photography.
