Photographer’s Note

This boy from Turkey learned to read the holy book of the Muslims, the Qur´an. When we visited a Mosque with his school class, he showed us how to read it.

Hi,
I like the idea for this shot - a kid reading Quran! I think you got the right POV here, but that other person walking in the backgroud is a bit disturbing. There's also room to play with contrast and light. Nice moment though!

Merhaba Gisi,

Excellent b/w photo, that takes the viewer right into the experience. However, as a secularist, I wish this young boy with immense potential were reading a book with a message from left to right, instead of the other way. I wish he were reading limitless good secular literature, at the least, 'Matematik ve Mona Lisa,' (the Turkish Translation of my 'Math and the Mona Lisa,')

Very good and interesting photo! The POV really shows the child's concentration, and the sepia colour is perfect here. The writing on the book is quite sharp too! Well done!
