Photographer’s Note

Stift Melk is a Benedictine abbey in Austria's Niederösterreich region, founded in 1089 it counts as one of the world's most famous monastic sites. It is a huge building complex standing on a rock above the small town of Melk. In the evening the declining sun lightens its main facade, which is what you see on this image.

Hi Jean,
Perfect timing, the facade of the Stift Melk really glows, both the sunlight and the blue sky accentuate the structure pleasantly. Excellent shot.

Rien à redire, c'est du bleu de chez bleu et une qualité d'image superlative. Il n'y a pas que le Danube qui soit bleu par là...

A superb capture of this lovely abbey which stands out beautifully against that dark saturated sky. The upwards point of view is very well chosen. Excellent colours and clarity. A lovely building to behold on a dull Sunday in Charente-Maritime.

Alors là, c'est encore le Pix'ciel Terror qui a frappé ! Qu'est-ce tu veux dire devant une telle beauté, et des couleurs si... si... Ah tu vois, on peut rien dire !

c'est le meilleur POV sur Melk pour souligner la magnificence de son architecture.
l'image est très nitide et le contraste avec le ciel blue est très agréable

Bonjour Jean Yves, un ciel de rêve ou la polarisation est reine et également une très belle lumière et une bonne netteté dans un paysage de nature comme j'aime la voir, ça c’est de l’abbaye qui en impose sur sont éperons rocheux, la présentation de celle-ci bénéficie d’un éclairage parcimonieux qui agrémente tout de suite une photo en lui conférant beaucoup d'impact visuel très suggestif et agréable à contemplé, la façade principale sous une bonne lumière à l’heure (bleue à cause du pola) ou les détaille sont bien perceptible, bon dimanche, et amitiés de Belgique

Hi JY,
That deep blue looks like Velvia, so deep saturated but still in a very natural way, how i like to see that. The upwards view gives a strong perspective image from that castle and the light is just perfect on the architecture....very nice, i like this.

Beautiful and very impressive architecture of the Benedictine Abbey, the building looks like a castle and you captured it at the right time with the last sunlight of the day, the colors are very good and the presence of the deep blue sky enhances the facade of such amazing building. J'ai du retard... et je reviens sur cette superbe image où la Terreur des Pixels a encore frappé!!
La définition est excellente et le point de vue que tu as choisi donne l'impression de pouvoir s'élever pour profiter au mieux de la vue sur ce magnifique batiment.

This is a great shot of the Melk Abbey. Your composition and POV are great giving us an upward view of the Abbey. The yellow and white building stands out beautifully against the deep blue sky. Nice use of the rule of thirds here with the three areas of contrasting colors. The lighting and colors are great with outstanding sharpness and DOF. You had much better weather on you day in Melk than I did!
