Photographer’s Note

I took this image when coming back froom Hungary, now with both countries belonging to the Schengen area, there is no control at the border anymore and depending on the road you change country without noticing it.

However, as soon as you are on austrian territory, you notice the presence of these bulb churches that most people associate with this country, even though there are present in a number of central european countries.

Comme tu l'écris, un clocher caractèristique de ce coin d'Europe avec ses couleurs et ses bulbes. Beau cadrage avec la végétation qui l'entoure et l'escalier qui invite à la découverte.

I like the point of view here though I find it a slight pity that the top of the church is so tightly framed. Nevertheless, a very pleasing image with good colours and exceptional clarity. The polarised sky makes a good foil for the delicate colours of the church tower.

Tu es presque mon voisin aujourd'hui.
Les problèmes de connexions semblent être du passé sur TE. Touchons du bois...
Ce que j'aime dans cette image, c'est l'escalier qui nous entraîne vers cette majestueuse Papagolfade colorée. Le bleu du ciel est impressionnant et permet de créer un contraste important avec l'église.

These churches with typical exterior report an orientation dot really, sure. Onto Hungary other kind architecture feature. The national peculiarities show a difference between our countries only without borders. Beautiful shot. Have a nice Sunday

Hello Jean Yves,
it is very interesting to experience how somebody, like you, living far from our region look at our architecture. At the time of building Burgenland was part of Hungary (from foundation of the Hungarian Kingdom till 1920) therefore similar tower helmets you can often find in Hungary as well. (Most of them built sometimes on older towers in the 18th century.) I myself find much sharper difference when leaving Burgenland and entering Styria or Lower Austria which federal states never belonged to Hungary. The villages in Burgenland have the same structure and style of older houses like the villages in West Hungary.
Sure, sometimes we see the same object differently depending on where we grew up.
And no to forget: the photo is excellent with its good composition and brilliant colours.

La photo est très bien cadrée et les couleurs sont superbes. L'image est très nette. J'étais la dernière fois en Hongrie en 1975, ça a dû changer beaucoup...faut que j'y retourne un de ces jours.

Bonjour Jean Yves, j'apprécie beaucoup le cadrage et la très teinte rose du bâtiment qui se mixte idéalement avec ce bleu polarisé, le détail qui me frappe est cette coiffe mauve qui n'est pas commune, l’horloge n’est pas en reste non plus bien assortie qu’elle est avec sont sommet, cette construction figée au travers du feuillage est assez atypique mais c’est le genre de chose que l’on recherche, pas vrai, bien amicalement

Your composition and POV are great here framing the church tower with the trees. The path and stairs lead the eye into the shot nicely giving the shot a nice sense of direction. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF. I only wish you had stepped back a couple more steps and given a little more head room above the tower.

Bit tight in the framing, but good in the exposure.
A nice church for your sunday theme....i like the stairs to go up, creates some perspective depth which works pretty good.

Je trouve aussi que le sommet du clocher est trop près du bord de l'image . Mais je suppose que tu n'avais pas le choix . Quoiqu'il en soit , c'est un superbe clocher avec un bulbe de toute beauté , et qui capte merveilleusement la lumière . Et quel beau ciel bleu !

Bonjour, Jean-Yves. Un beau ciel bleu qui permet à ce clocher à bulbe de bien se détacher sur l'arrière-plan. Les arbres encadrent bien la construction et celui de gauche attire l'attention sur l'horloge. Les escaliers nous introduisent bien dans l'image en menant vers le sujet principal.

Ah, une papagolfade charmante aujourd'hui, est bien ensoleillee. Les teintes vertes de l'ete sont bien evidentes et le cadrage est reussi, l'escalier nous mene vers l'eglise en haut.

Here you have a true RGB image with a bit of cream and white thrown in for good measure. :D Well composed image with a low POV and the use of the steps to lead the eye upwards and good framing from the trees. I learned something too as I would not have associated this church with Austria

The hot pink cupola on the spire and on the clock face add subtle color highlight to the image, which is already very good, rich in greens and blues. You are right about associating the onion dome with a number of Central European countries, but in Russia aren't they almost always smooth and not angular, and frequently gilded. Wonderful shot,

Je reviens sur celle-ci que j'avais vue passer mais pas eu le temps de commenter.
De superbes couleurs, tant au niveau du ciel que de la végétation. Celle du clocher est assez surprenante et contraste fort bien avec la couleur de la partie principale, plus discrète mais néanmoins fort lumineuse.
J'aime bien la perspective qui nous invite à aller plus haut...

Bon cadrage et surtout très belles teintes bien saturées qui s'harmonisent avec ce clocher coloré. Bien d'avoir inclu le clocher qui renforce l'effet de la contre plongée et de hauteur de l'édifice.

also in the village where I was born there is such a tower, we literally call it "onion tower".
