Photographer’s Note

El primer día del nuevo año viajé a Andorra para pasar unas cortas vacaciones. La meteorología había sido muy mala entre Navidad y Fin de Año, y pude disfrutar de una pequeña tregua con un tiempo fantástico, en varios días en los que el cielo tenía un color azul muy limpio y no había ninguna nube.

La foto que presento está tomada en el pueblo de Ordino, en mi opinión el más bonito del Principado de Andorra, y es un plano cerrado sobre su bella arquitectura tradicional de montaña y el campanario de su iglesia, que todavía tiene la decoración luminosa navideña.

El WS 1 es un plano más abierto, en formato vertical, para hacer una composición en la que el cielo azul y las montañas nevadas también jueguen su papel estético, bajo la fuerte y bonita luz del mediodía. La verdad es que dudé en presentar ésta como foto principal. ¿Qué pensáis vosotros?

El WS 2 es una escena del agradable paseo por las calles de este pueblo con nuestros amigos Rosa (Manya) y Miquel (cuoco), con quienes pasamos este día.

The first day of the new year I travelled to Andorra to spend a few short vacations. The weather had been very bad among Christmas and the Eve of New Year, and I could enjoy a small truce with a fantastic weather, in several days in which the sky had a blue very clean color and there was no cloud.

The photo that I present is taken in the village of Ordino, in my opinion the nicest of the Principality of Andorra, and is a closed plane on its beautiful traditional mountain architecture and the belfry of its church, which still has the luminous Christmas decoration.

The WS 1 is a wider angle, in vertical format, to do a composition in which the blue sky and the covered with snow mountains also play its aesthetic role, under the strong and nice light of the midday. The truth is that I hesitated to present this one as the main photo. What do you think?

The WS 2 is a scene of the pleasant walk along the streets of this village with our friends Rosa (Manya) and Miquel (cuoco), with whom we spend this day.

Bonjour Josep,

Excellent cadrage sur ce village. Le clocher et les toits se détachent à merveille sur le flanc de la montagne qui constitue un très bel arrière-plan. Image magnifiquement contrastée.

Bonjour Josep ,
Tu as raison , Andorre peux présenter des aspects si différents : la magnifique architecture des villages traditionnels , et le modernisme de la vallée .
La lumière et la netteté sont superbes sur l'image . Mais je crois que je préfère le WS , avec une vue plus large , et les sommets enneigés en arrière plan . Pour une vue rapprochée , je pense qu'un format vertical aurait été plus adapté . Malheureusement , je ne sais pas encore faire de WS , mais en partant de ta vue plus large , et en recadrant , tu pourrais avoir une vue rapprochée encore meilleure .

The church tower really stands out against the background of the mountains. I like the buildings in the foreground as well but just focusing in on the tower might have looked good as well. I suppose it works either way. The overall composition is fantastic though and the tower is placed in a good spot within the picture.

Very well captured light for this superb view of the church and buildings looming in front of the mountain. The light here plays a pivotal advantage to give the architecture so much more interesting character. Good work.

Feliz Año lo primero! La foto pues es realmente una maravilla, la nitidez que tiene es de 10 y como bien dices el tiempo te dió una tregua porque la luz que hay en la foto es perfecta. Imagino que por la noche sería muy bonito con la iglesia adornada.

On dirait une image de printemps. Les photos en WS semblent le confirmer. Vous avez bien fait d'en profiter !
J'aime ce cadrage serré sur les toits et le clocher avec, comme fond, le versant de la montagne. La lumière et les ombres donnent du relief aux édifices.
C'est une excellente photo !

Hola Josep, very beautiful charming tower against the wonderful mountain scenery. Lovelly sunny set of traditional architecture in a superb presentation. Nice to see your friends walking in WS2 - it seems a perfect peaceful sunny day for stroling around. Love the blue sky and snowcapped peaks in WS1.

My preference would go to WS1. I love the inclusion of the sky and the snow on the mountains. However we can admire the closer details of the church on this one. All images benefit from the beautiful winter light.

M'encanten les cases de montanya... i si he d'escollir.... la WS1 m'agrada més... simplement perque hi surt el pic amb neu i aixó més Adorrana... :P

You caught a really wonderful light here wich emphasizes the structure of all these roofs in a beautiful way. Showing this village and especially this steeple in front of these wonderful dark green slopes creates a lovely effect.
These artificial icicles are really funny.

Une très belle composition avec la montagne en arrière plan qui crée un relief vraiment appréciable et fait bien ressortir les différentes architecture. Los dos ws son agradables pero aquí nos presentas una foto excelente, que me gusta mucho.
Una multitud de techos, rodeando la iglesia. Una luz agradable. Y la montaña al segundo plano contribuye a ofrecer una harmonía de colors muy bonita.
Para concluir, también el encuadre, muy elegante, me gusta.

That was a hard choice; the snow and the Mountain in the WS is lovely yet the light is more luminous here. I always think good light trumps so I agree with your choice.

La verdad que es una foto muy buena, parece incluso que esta sobrepuesta las imagenes, una gran claridad y definición,
pero tu WS de "Un plano más abierto, en formato vertical." creo que es magnifica, con las montañas nevadas, me gusta mucho, se ve la belleza del lugar, me gusta el encuadre de las dos y el color!, Bravo!!!

Hi Josep. Both this and the WS are worthy post images. I feel this one slightly more so though. This shot has a more graphical feel with all the roof angles and compressed perspective. Well captured and thanks for sharing.

Quel belle lumiére ce jour là, je pense que mon choix irais pour celle en WS, avec la neige sur les montagnes et le ciel bleu, mais içi on appréçie plus en détails le clocher, donc!!! puis j'aime beaucoup aussi le WS2, trés trés sympathique

I love the way the tone of the stone buildings is so similar to the stone of the mountains backdrop .. can't these people get cable and take down the television antennas : ) very nice image. take care,

Que sorte tivestes em flagar este dia de sol, em pleno inverno, não? O controle de luz/sombra achei excpecional. Gostei dos tons um pouco prateados que surgem em determinados ponto da foto, e, o plano de fundo, nestes tons verdes escuro, ficou ótimo e acentuou toda a gama de cores e contrastes. Bonita mostra. I'm just sorry for the wider angle version in the WS. It would also have been worth to upload as a main photo. The snowy mountains look awesome in the background!

Light is critical here as it lights up the face of the spire with the clock. This gives so much luminescence to the scene amidst the dark slate stones & the deep green BG. The WS1 is perhaps better. A fine group of images in excellent light & a fine note as well.

Muy buena esta toma con el campanario del iglesia siempre sobressaliendo arriba del resto de la casas del pueblo como en casi todos los lugares del mundo.
Me gusta mucho la sobreposicion de los planos del pueblo e de las montañas resultante del uso del zoom.
La luz cria en bello efecto tridimensional.

Acertadisima la captura de este plano y estoy contigo Ordino es el pueblo mas bonito de Andorra. Me gusta mucho el juego de volumenes de los diferentes tejados y la antigua torre que se levanta soberana sobre ellos, el plano abierto que presentas en el WS, me gusta mucho tambien pues el efecto de la montaña con la cumbre nevada crea una bonita postal. Este tipo de marco solo en los horizontales no lo he probado, pero veo que da muy buen resultado estetico.
