Photographer’s Note

Hago una pequeña pausa para no cansaros con tanta vieja arquitectura, y hoy quiero mostraros una imagen de un lugar que ya he fotografiado en alguna otra ocasión, el fondo del valle de Arinsal, en el Principado de Andorra, y el bello circo de montañas que lo cierran y que forman la frontera natural con España y con Francia. Estaba de vacaciones con mi esposa y mi perro en el pequeño y tranquilo pueblo de Arinsal, y hacía tres días que no había parado de llover y de nevar, con lo cual, las montañas quedaron cubiertas por un bonito manto de nieve. Me asomé al balcón, y vi que por fin el día era limpio y despejado, y no pude resistir la tentación de tomar esta foto con la última nevada de la temporada.

En la foto se pueden ver a la izquierda, el Pic de Comapedrosa, de 2942 m de altura y montaña más alta de Andorra, y a su derecha, el Pic de Medecorba y el Pic de Racofred.

El WORKSHOP 1 es una imagen desde el balcón, tomada el día anterior, donde se puede ver cómo estaba nevando.

El WORKSHOP 2 es un plano corto de la nieve cayendo sobre los tejados, también tomado el día anterior.

I do a small pause not to get tired with so many old architecture, and today I want to show you an image of a place that already I have photographed in some another occasion, the bottom of Arinsal's valley, in the Principality of Andorra, and the beautiful circus of mountains that close it and that form the natural border with Spain and with France. I was of vacations with my wife and my dog in the small and calm village of Arinsal, and was doing three days that it had not stopped raining and snowing, with which, the mountains remained covered by a nice mantle of snow. I appeared to the balcony, and I saw that finally the day was clean and clear, and could not resist the temptation of taking this photo with the last snowfall of the season.

In the photo they can be seen to the left side, the Comapedrosa Peak, of 2942 m of height and higher mountain of Andorra, and to its right, the Medecorba Peak and the Racofred Peak.

The WORKSHOP 1 is an image from the balcony, taken the previous day, where it is possible to see how it was snowing.

The WORKSHOP 2 is a short plane of the snow falling down on the roofs, also taken the previous day.

Une vue grandiose de cette vallée, les trois plans avec des couleurs différentes sont très bien vus.
Un grand souvenir pour moi, c'est à Arinsal que je suis monté la première fois sur des skis!

Hola, Josep. Bonita toma de un paisaje espectacular. La exposición de nieve es sumamente dificil y creo que lo has manejado bien. Para mí, el taller número uno me habla más, recordando para mí los pequeños pueblos pirenéos, con sus carreteras silenciosas y curovsas pasando por las montañas. -Hugh

Salut Josep,
Très belle prise de vue que tu présente aujourd'hui (et les autres jours aussi bien sur..:o)..).
Magnifique ce paysage qui coupe le souffle tellement c'est grandiose en effet.
J'aime beaucoup les ombres noirs sur les flancs des montagnes enneigées, très bonne composition.. !

Ces montagnes majestueuses recouvertes de leur manteau neigeux sont magnifiques, l'exposition est parfaite et j'aime beaucoup les ombres projetées sur ces montagnes illuminées de soleil. Bravo Josep pour cette belle et grandiose image.

Hi Josep - those mountains do look beautiful against that blue sky. The image has three different layers, darker at the bottom, then the white snow & finally the blue sky, it looks great.

I hope Liverpool can win the semi-final too - but after last night I'm not too confident! :(

Great colours in this, with the blue and white combining to give a cold feeling. It's quite a difference from your usual photos of buildings, but what beautiful scenery. Well done!

Muito bonita esta imagem das montanha de Andorra. Sempre fui um apaixonado pela neve, embora nunca tenha tenha residido num região de montanha e de neve. Talvez seja por ser originário de climas quentes. Também gosto muito dos WS's e pela mesma razão, a neve!

Hi Josep,

Une belle chaîne de montagnes joliment mise en valeur et contrastée par ce beau ciel bleu qui est enfin arrivé, ce qui n'était pas gagné en regardant tes photo complémentaires. Belle gestion de la lumière aussi. Une belle image très agréable, merci Josep.

You must have been getting fed-up while you were waiting for the sun to come out so you could take this lovely picture. The bright white of the snow contrasts beautifully with the blue of the sky.

A refreshing image, because where I stay, the temperature is between 35/40°C with a lot of humidity, and I wish I could be at a place like the one you're showing us. Nice view over the mountains with light/shade contrasts and good colors.

Sem dúvida um dia bonito..e uma paisagem fantástica.
Controlaste na perfeição a exposilção nesta foto...o que não é fácil em fotos de neve (normalmente ficam demasiado brancas) mas esta está perfeita.
Adoro essa sombra projectada na neve.

J'apprecie toujours autant tes images pyreneennes et celle là en est un peu un résumé. La beauté sauvage des montagnes s'y associe avec une pureyé de l'air parfaitement rendue par ton cadrage qui laisse beaucoup de place au ciel bleu. Peut-être qu'un peu d'équilibre aurait été gagné en cadrant un peu plus bas, mais c'est très difficile si l'on veut garder cet aspect 'aerien'. Les ws valent eux aussi le détour!

The weather certainly turned good for you, Josep, after seeing from your WS photos what the previous days were like. The 'bands' created by the blue sky, white snow and dark foreground is what I like about this composition. Maybe I would have shown a little less sky and a little more foreground so that each of the bands occupied about a third of the frame. Cheers . . . David

Atrasado como siempre pero no por mi culpa sino por el exceso de trabajo.
Me gustan mucho las tres fotos que presentas, esta por la preciosa imagen de las montañas cubiertas de nieve y las diferentes areas en sombra y luz ademas el impresionante cielo azul, y las otras dos porque me encanta ver caer la nieve.
