Butrint, a photo from Sarande, South

Photographer's Note

Butrint is the most important archeological site in Albania - Appolonia is another great one - and it contains many buildings and ruins from several area's.
The oldest parts are the walls that date from the 4th century BC and are Illyrian. There are also remains from Hellenic, Roman and Byzantine origin. High above is the acropolis with a lot of Hellenic and Roman remains, that is dominated by the Turkish castle from which you can see far into Greece, only a few kilometers away here.

Hi Gerrit,
I've just visited your last posts of this trip and loved it. Good capture here, framing the view with the Turkish castle. That green plain is attractive and the colors are wonderful. Very good work on this series.

Perfect composition in your photo. The image has very a well thought frame, with the vegetation and the walls in foreground, the plain and the river in means of the image, and the mountains in two levels of distance in background.
Great sharpness and good balance of lighting.
In addition, the sky is magnificent with its blue color and the white spots of clouds.

This is quite an amazing shot. I love how you captured the dark foreground shrubs and the walls of the building. The sunlit view over the valley is stunning. I love the colour of the fields and the distant view behind them! Great composition with great details and colours!

I love the way you have framed the distant view with the castle walls and the bushes. There is fantastic depth in the image with excellent foreground sharpness.
